The US needs to stop giving out welfare, free schooling, along with the hospitals looking the other way when illegals come looking for health care. Since they don't have insurance they go to emergency rooms like anyone else would go to the family doctor since emergency rooms can't turn people away. Then the bill comes.... and of course it's never paid. Therefore the hospitals are being closed. State/county governments need to step up and say that they won't support illegals. If someone is found to be an illegal, then they should be deported. And as far as some of these politicians go saying we need them as laborers, otherwise our economy will crumble..... how did the US survive 10-15-20 yrs ago without this influx of illegals? !

I think the solution should be to enforce all the laws on books. We shouldn't give illegal immigrants amnesty, no jobs or entitlements. We should encourage self-deportation and give these people the option to come back to the country but will have to leave the country and get in line but wait longer than a normal immigrant to get a visa. If people don't self-deport, these people would be deported with the illegal immigrants involved in terrorist or extremist groups. Thanks!

Set the same example President Dwight Eisenhower did in 1954 when he deported 1.3 million Mexican nationals. It took 2 years, but he got the job done. (Google "Operation W-tback" for the story). President Herbert Hoover had already done something similiar before that during the Depression. But, then........those events happened back in the good old days when leaders had the guts you don't find much anymore. (Make that anymore....period.) The only thing was they both forget to put up a holeless fence and we now have the same problem all over again. Except worse. Plus the ACLU and other Bleeding Heart Liberals weren't so prolific back then either. You got to do more than just get mad. Reminds me of the comment Pogo Possum made satirically in that old cartoon strip back in the 1950s. "I have identified the enemy ........ and they is us."

1) Impose SERIOUS fines and jail time for hiring criminal immigrants.

2) Eliminate ALL government aid to criminal immigrants within our borders.

3) Impose harsh prison terms on criminal immigrants who break other laws.

4) Refuse citizenship to children born to criminal immigrants.

Do that, and actually enforce it.. and you can have a completely open border without the problems we're facing today. The only motivation they'll have to be here is to come visit friends/family or recreation, which is perfectly OK with me.

I believe the Statue of Liberty said, "Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free..."

It doesn't say,"Give me your indolent, your wealthy, your upper-class clones yearning to blow the limit on their Master Cards..."

People who came to America did so because the economy is better than where they came from. If we want to discourage illegal immigration, we need to destroy the Dow Jones Industrial.

As long as people get a good education, a good job, and rich by their country's standards here in America, they'll keep coming. My great grandma was from Norway. Most of our citizen's families are from other countries. Unless you're Apache, Cherokee, or any other form of Native American, we're all descendants of immigrants.

My answer is let them come. I don't want to break my back and skin picking cotton or lettuce or whatever. I can't see others in my family working in a sweatshop, but these people do, because they want a better lifestyle for themselves and their kids.

In America, the streets ARE paved with gold, you just have to be willing to work hard for it. These people are willing to work, why should we deny them the American Dream?

a) The Mexican president needs to step up and fix the taxation/spending system in his country. Mexico is a wealthy country -- but the wealth is concentrated in too few hands. Tax, and institute programs similar to New Dealism. You listening, President Calderon?

b) Mexico needs to discourage the quinceanera and Catholicism. 15 is too young. Girls should be encouraged to go on to college, instead of having more babies than there will be jobs for when the kids grow up.

To summarize: Mexico is broken and needs to be fixed. Only the people of Mexico can fix it. Instead of parading and protesting and demonstrating in the streets of Los Angeles, they should do that in the streets of Mexico City.

The fact is, they can commit a crime and its nearly impossible to track them down since they are not in the system.

The plan I think is police officers should be given the right to randomly check papers on who they deem to be "an illegal immigrant." Me, personally, have no problem with it, because I am a citizen and have nothing to hide.

The ******* ACLU has a bleeding heart for illegals for some reason!

Secure the border, deport any illegal that comes in contact with law enforcement. Increase fines and ICE raids on employers that hire illegals. End the free medical care and teach only English in public schools. That should go a long way in correcting the problem.

1.Fence or other border patrol that is good enough to keep people out.

2. A process by which undocumented people that have committed no crimes and are actively employed are offered a way to stay here- pay a fine, pass a health test, and, be of sound moral character, then, they get 10 year work visa.

3. Big boot to any criminals.

4. No public assistance for undocumented.

5. They must pay taxes.
