I have sang in A LOT of weddings before, so I do know that procedures.

I am asking this question for myself and for the bride b/c we are both stumped as to what to pick.

I am singing during the ceremony, and my friends are open to anything. I have a pretty wide range and have been singing for a long time.

I think Allison Krause's version of When you Say Nothing at All is very pretty and very appropriate for a wedding solo.

eep, so many variables. Is this for the ceremony? Where in the ceremony? Are there religious restrictions on music? What do the couple like?

But the most important thing is to pick a song that you can nail. If you can't sing country, then no matter how lovely the song is, it just might not fit your voice. (I've heard too many scary renditions of Ave Maria, for example, by people who have voices that just aren't suited for classical.) And remember that wedding days can be emotional, so be ready to have to deal with a lump in your throat.

As for specifics, I'm a sucker for the old standbys... stuff that Nat King Cole or Ella Fitzgerlad or any of the Rat Pack might have sung.

Valentine (Martina McBride)
I Will Be Here (Steven Curtis Chapman)
At Last (Etta James)
I do Cherish You (98 Degrees)
I Swear (All 4 One)
Forever and For Always (Shania Twain)
Fools Rush In (can't help falling) Elvis Presley
Hero (Enrique Iglesias)
All My Life (k-ci & JoJo)
Unforgettable (Natalie Cole)
From This Moment (Shania Twain)

I would let the bride listen to a few of your favorites (i.e. songs you can perform wel) if you're friends hopefully you have similiar taste, then maybe she can pick what she likes the most.

Good luck!

That is so sweet of you! If you are singing at the reception, here are a few songs I can think of that would be beautiful:

Forever and For Always - Shania Twain
The Way You Look Tonight - Michael Buble
You Are - Jimmy Wayne
Thank You For Loving Me - Bon Jovi
Always - Bon Jovi
Bubbly - Colbie Caillat

Good Luck! :)

Are you singing at the ceremony or reception? If it is for the ceremony you should check with the accompanist because it would need to be something that they can play. If it is in a church there are sometimes restrictions on what you can sing so definitely check before you make your decision.

Also it should be something that the bride and groom like or want to incorporate.

Good luck!

Choose something simple. Not Leann Rimes, no Whitney Houston unless a nuetral party confirms that your voice can handle it. I've seen too many weddings where singers strain out "Unchained Melody" and it sounds aboslutely horrible.

What about "Bless the Broken Road" by Rascall Flatts, "Lovers Prayer" or "These Arms of Mine" by Otis Redding, "Keep your hands to yourself" by Georgia Sattelites for something rock'n blues and fun. Really you should tailor it to the couple's tastes and choose a genere they like best.

For my sister's wedding, I sang Devoted to You, by the Everly Brothers; Annie's Song by John Denver; and a modern Ave Maria for the bride's entrance - it's not the classical one, the lyrics and melody are really beautiful -

I had my cousin sing the Kelly Clarkson song "A Moment Like This" for my wedding as I was walking down the isle. I thought it was beautiful and it fint the occassion so wonderfully.

Ave Maria is a beautiful song that is traditional and can be sung at a wedding of any kind. It can also be sung in any language, and still just as beautiful. Even the original Latin form is beautiful. I had it sung at my wedding.

Each time I've sung at a wedding the bride and groom have chosen the piece. Ask your friends what they like.
