Obviously, whatever nutrients you ingest are used.
But your body is very selective about what it keeps.
If your diet is imbalanced or lacking nutrients it suffers.
We get in trouble because our bodies need something;
& we're overeating all the wrong things to satisfy it.

This is a highly-misunderstood fact. But it is an
undeniable fact. (Many people try to deny it--by
making a joke out of it, when they take it literally.
(E.g., "Well, if I eat a carrot, I will not start to look
like a skinny, orange-skinned weirdo... with a
pointed head!" Or.... "Just because I like to eat
broccoli, that doesn't mean I'm at risk of turning
green!")
No. And it was never meant to be taken that way.
But there are a lot healthy foods, and there are
also a lot of unhealthy foods. (Both of them might
taste good; but many prefer the unhealthy ones--
just because they're more convenient. After all, it'll
take only seconds to prepare to eat a candy bar.
But preparing a "deluxe" vegetable sandwich...
that will take a while.)
"You are what you eat," means EXACTLY THAT.
Nothing more, but certainly nothing less! If you
eat healthy foods, you'll be healthy. If you eat un-
healthy foods, you'll be unhealthy.
A lot of people, though, don't want to admit to that.
It's just not convenient. Many, many people live
in self-denial of their daily diets. (Is it any wonder,
therefore, that obesity is such a huge problem?)

No. I don't think this is true because if I eat broccoli, am i a broccoli? nooo! But a more reasonable example would be if you eat high calorie foods , are you fat? No because everyone is different. Some people have faster metabolisms and others have slower metabolisms.

Lets see I'm kinda cheesy at times, some would call me alittle nutty, Im pretty beefy in size, and I'm sweet as hell, so yeah I am what I eat. I love cheese and nuts, and beef, and I love desert. LOL, just trying to humor you, don't get mad!

i agree that you are a product of your choices- your choices could be choice in food, boyfriend, place to live, sexual orientation you name it...I would not say you are what you eat...but you are a product of your choices whatever they may be. I think confining your self to food is very narrow and almost not giving yourself the credit for the complexity that you bring to the world.
