1. It TOTALLY depends on the school.
2. It COMPLETELY depends on the drama teacher.
3. Since we don't know you, we would have NO IDEA if drama would be 'good for you'.

Depends what your high school program has to offer. Some questions you need to ask ---Is the course about the history of drama? Is it an acting course? Or is it about the technical aspects of theatre? Or is it a bit of everything? More likely than not if it's a practical experience (meaning you put on a show or performance of some kind at the end) it will REQUIRE a LOT of time commitment. If your other course load is heavy time commitments, this is probably not the course to take. It could be a fun class, but it will undoubtedly take up more time than you expect.

I got stuck in drama because my schedule was messed up by my counselors. It can be a fun class if you have the right people in it with you. I didn't really like it because by the time i went over to drama, school started for 5 weeks and all the people got into their groups and stuff. It was really hard because i didn't know a single soul and i had to act and do all sorts of stuff in front of them/.

It could be a good thing as you state that you love acting. You may find that acting would be a good way for you to "get out of your shell." However, It really depends on your school and your teacher. Ideally, your teacher and classmates should work together on the various ways to act and do things to build your confidence on stage.

I'd say that it wouldn't hurt to take it for one semester, just to try it out. If you don't like it, then you won't have to take it the following semester, especially if it's an elective.
