My husbands boredom actually led to us being saved...He was a lead singer in a band,,,got bored in a hotel room, started reading the Bible placed there by the Gideons.....brought it home to finish the story he was reading,,,and that got us to thinking about God and realizing we didn't know much....so he started it, we learned together, and got saved and baptised. Bless the Gideons!

My grandparents were devout members of a certain church. My parents followed suit so I was raised in a Christian atmosphere. At 15 I stopped going to church altogether.
In the ensuing 20 years my mother had doubts about this church and began to pray and study. My dad stopped going to church too which broke his mother's heart.
The more my mom prayed and searched for a church filled with the Holy Spirit, searched for the truth, I saw amazing changes in her. I saw her prayers for others answered. I saw what can only be described as miracles happen to and for her.

My dad saw them too and they began going to church together again after nearly30 years. We got saved, born again. If it wasn't for my mother's perseverance I'm not sure where my soul would be today. Probably lukewarm for in all the years I believed in God I did not KNOW HIM until I was nearly 50.

My family was actually about as far from the Lord as it gets. But through that, God revealed Himself to me in a very personal and special way.

I learned of Jesus through the 700 club. My family was little to no help in my spiritual growth and in many ways were a hindrance.
I spent the first few years of my Christian life jumping from church to church looking for something that I felt in my heart was "right for me".
During this time, I would have to say that it was listening to Joyce Meyer that helped me to grow spiritually.
I now belong to a Vineyard Church, where the Word is taught in a humble fashion.

My Precious Mother deceased 22 years now made sure I was rooted in the word. As early as I can remember, Mother had me memorizing Bible Verses. She took me to Church. She set a good example for me. I thank God that she was always there for me and stood by me. I learned a lot of things the hard way and strayed some from her teachings~~~she just kept on loving me & praying for me. I wasn't happy and retuned to my roots. Thank God for Godly Mothers.~~~Jill

My dad. No doubt! Daddy, was a minister/pastor and I was the typical "preachers kid!" I was expected to be better than the others, to act older and so on. Now, this was not imposed by my Dad! He would never do that to me! It was; however, by the deacons and other leaders and adults in our church! I had eyes on me everywhere I turned!

Finally, I couldn't take the pressure anymore and told my Dad I did not want to go back to church. He was shocked! I explained the situation to him and he wept! I could not believe my Daddy was crying...he never did that!

Then, he took me in his arms and told me that no one is my judge...except God! That, only God has that right to judge a person. Then, he asked me, Do you love the Lord? I replied, of course I do! Daddy, looked up at me and said , when they point a finger at you, remember, Gail, they have three pointing back at themselves! That was and is so true!

So, you see, I was ready to walk away from God when I was but a child! However, the love of one man, my Daddy, made me see through the "world's blindness." His words have always reminded me that my first love lies in God...not man!

Daddy, died when I was 16. Even so, his example, his love for God and for others, his devotion to God and his very life has helped me to sustain my faith in the face of much strife and struggles, in my life.

My personal testimony is on record in my profile for those who care to search for it. It is available to you through a private email..........

My family was not a Chirstian one, and my surrender to the Lord, cost me more relationships than it honored or restored.

My parents; my father was more strict about going to Church etc. but it was my mother who actually taught me how to pray, and to have faith in Jesus Christ.

May God bless my parents and all those in this world who bring individuals to Jesus. Like one bible scholar wrote, "It is the greatest service one person can do to another."

Peace in Christ,
Andrew

My Grandparents were a big part of taking me to church. They stayed faithful even after Grandpa had a stroke, and lived that way for 13 years.

The constant threat of hell as a child from well meaning ignorantly indoctrinated loved ones is what did it for me.
