STUART>>>>> Sorry I didn't include our whole life story but my son has Tourettes Syndrome along with OCD and Anxiety. We have struggled for the past 5 years to help him become strong, confident and proud of himself...this is a HUGE step for him and I consider it to be a victory for our parenting skills. He is a very intelligent little boy with remarkable academic marks, a love for magic and mystery and has subscriptions to National Geographic and Smithsonian magazine for pleasure reading! I didn't ask for criticism, I asked for advice!

Look. If you do, or get someone else to do al of your son's challenging projects for him, by the time he grows up, all he'll be able to do is say, "I can't do it! Please help me!"

"Criticism comes easier then craftsmanship," were the words once spoke by Zeuxis. I too, realize that it is easier for people to criticize, then to look past the cover of this election. I ask that you first place all of your critizism away and here me for who I am.
I am a 5th grade student, much like the rest of you. I enjoy (place things that he enjoys). I play with you on the same playground, and help tell jokes about the schools lunch, even though we all find it to be just as good as any other filled plate that we have ever eaten.
I have also been on school trips and participated in school activities. I believe these reasons make me the soul canidate for class treasurer. I know what our class needs. I can help save the money to get us on those class trips and to help pay for the everyday supplies that our classrooms use. Elect me, not only because I stand before you asking you to, but because deep down you know of trips you'd like to go on, or things you'd like to see our classrooms have. Elect me and I will be the one to make these things happen. I will help you make your class year the best year yet. Thank You.

How much does anyone really like listening to typical speeches. Keep it simple.
Have him:
1) Brainstorm to answer these questions. Why do you want to be treasurer? and What will you do as the treasurer?
2) Then thank the people that took the time to listen.
3) Practice...a lot....with distractions...Builds confidence and sometimes can be the most fun.

Excellent that he is running; good that you are helping behind the scenes. The more success he can build, the more success in life he will build. Now ideas, how about turning his love of magic into a campaign theme? Queen, song, "I can do magic" magician's uniform, and slogan, something like, "I can do magic with money." Go with what works, that's just an idea to get started. The idea is to go with what he loves.

i always thought that an excellent topid would be what super power he would want most. especially at his age. he could use his answer to make him look like a god in the eyes of a teacher. He could make himself seem like a very dedicated and ready-to-learn student. its fun for him, and the teacher! Win win!!!

Start out with something like, "Hi, I'm _________ and I am running for class treasurer. I believe I am the best choice for class treasurer because _____________________________. If I'm elected class treasurer, I will _____________________." End by thanking them for listening and for voting for him. Constantly reinforce in the speech that he is the "best choice for class treasurer." Use that phrase often.
Good luck!

just tell him, to tell the class what he will help do. ask him to explain how to control the funds, how he will budget everything, and make room for an end of the year bash. something fun, catchy, and reasonable for the kids so they will want to vote.
