Ok so Ive been having this disorder since I was in 5th grade and now Im a shophmore in highschool. Its driving me crazy and lately it seems like its getting worse. I have the one where I have to repeate things a number of times until its just right. No one knows I have it and I want to talk to my doctor about it but I feel kind of embarrased and I dont want to go to therapy and have to talk about it. So my question to you guys is how do you cope and deal with it. Any other info you have would be greatly appresciated. Thanks in advance.

What's amazing is I am in my mid 50's and started having an intrusive repeating thought when I was in 5th or 6th grade.
At age 15 my mom made me see a doctor but I chickened out and wasn't honest with the doctor. At 18 I went back and told him what was bothering me.

I didn't get the diagnosis of OCD until after a layoff. It seemed so unfair & I couldn't stop thinking about it. I was seeing a new doctor and we changed the medication. This new medication sure makes life more manageable.

Please be honest with your doctor. He or she can help you.
Don't worry about what the doctor thinks. They don't pass judgment they help relieve human suffering.

You do need to talk to your doctor, or even just the school counselor. It helps. A lot. I have the disorder, and it isn't just bad, I just have about 132 fears and about 43 quirks I have.
