This is something I got to wondering, nobody take offense please... But if you are a mommy/daddy to be, and you or your wife were expecting and it turned out to be a high risk pregnancy, which would you choose to keep alive if the time came to make a choice?
I would think to keep the woman alive because you can make another child together, but once your partner is gone, that's it, no more wife/love of your life, no more planning... This isn't about me or anything, but it is a question I've wondered about before...
Thanks for any input!

I would agree with you. The reason is because not only would you lose your love, but the person who was alive would also become a single parent.
Also, everyone can also adopt a child, but they can't adopt a wife.

I had placenta abruption with my first pregnancy and it was a life or death situation for both me and the baby. They called code blue and all I kept doing was praying to God to keep the baby safe. I didn't even think about me I just wanted the baby to live. Thank God my husband didn't have to choose. The Dr.s were great and both me and my daughter came out fine. She is now 18 yrs old. But when it came down to it I was willing to give my life for my childs. Because of the abruption I was high risk with my other two pregnancies but didn't have any complications with either of them.

I can say "from my own experence" when I was 14 weeks pregnant I had to have a cyst removed that my doctor thought was CANCER!!! He told me that if it came down to it and the cancer was futher along that he thought, did he want me to take the baby to save my life, by taking all the cancer!!! This was a HUGE decision for me, since I was to become a single mother at 22... But after discussing it with my family and thinking long and hard about it, I chose my life "it sounds REALLY selfish as I type this" but thats the decision I made!!!

As it came down to it, it was cancer, but they got it all, it was in one place, had not spread, and after 2 rounds of chemo, I have had no more problems!!!

I hope this helps answer your question!!!

-27 weeks prego with a little girl, and couldn't be happier!!!-

my husband and i have discussed this he is to keep the child and let me go.i have had a chance to live my child hasnt. so we are have a agreed the child lives

if it ever should come to this every pregnancy from then on would be high risk for the same reason give the child a chance to live and let your life end. either way you wont be having any more kids

This was a common occurence in days of old, but in current times it is not a factor at all. Medical staff is going to do all it can to save BOTH lives. I am thankful that we live in this day and age.

As a mother, I don't think I could chose myself over my child. So I don't think that I could choose to terminate.
