RE:
what is the cutoff age for joining the military, all branches?

The Marines is 29 for enlisted, and 28 for officers. I believe the army is up to 40 or 42 years of age for first timers.

I understand that the Marines and possibly the army have extended maximum career to 35 years for those who wish to, and qualify for the extra years of duty.

The navy, I would assume, is similar to the Marines, given the fact that the Marine Corps is a branch of the Navy.

The Air Force and the Coast Guard, I have no information on age limits.

Maybe you should read the question because it asks "What is the cutoff age for joining the military, all branches?" I believe the person is asking what age is too old not how old you have to be to sign up.

The age goes up, at least in the Army. I was looking up something on the Army web site and guess what. They will take you up to 59 years old. This is for prior service people only and you must be able to complete 20 years by the time you turn 60.

The Navy will take prior service beyond the 1st timers age too.

Not sure of the others but they probably all have prior service age levels higher than for 1st timers.
