No, not necessarily. Depends on their position, if you have
room for them, and if you can keep them clean enough to
not get decay in them or interfere with cleaning the teeth in
front of them.

Everyone does not need their wisdom teeth out. It just seems that way!
Man was meant to have 32 teeth, but many people's jaws can't accomodate all 32 teeth, so often the wisdom teeth need to be removed. If they start to come in, but can't completely erupt, infection often occurs, since you can't clean down under the gum, under the flap of skin.
If your doctor tells you they need to be removed, ask them to show you on the xray the location of the teeth. You have a right to ask questions. Some orthodontists routinely order wisdom teeth to be removed, and I actually saw a case where an orthodontist ordered wisdom teeth to be removed, and when we took an xray, there were no wisdom teeth to remove. Some people actually don't ever form wisdom teeth.

I'm 23 and so far I haven't had to get my wisdom teeth pulled. I was told I may have to since one of the roots are hitting a nerve in my lower jaw but I haven't had any problems. Watch out for things that can get stuck in your gums like popcorn and other things that are hard to get out. Being back so far can cause the food to rot if it isn't able to be taken out of that area and you'll have to get them pulled. That is what happened to my sister anyways!

I'd say about half my friends still have their wisdom teeth and they're in their 40s and 50s. You might want to read up on wisdom teeth - and you'll find some great diagrams here, too:

No, just as long as there is room for them to come in and don't push against your other teeth causing them to be crowded or crooked. I am one to know since I have yet to have my wisdom teeth pulled out cause they came in fine so much so I had to ask my dentist if they came in since i had no pain at all.

no you don't have to get your wisdom teeth pulled. the reason you do though is because it is hard to keep them clean. so dentists suggest to get them pulled.

No I've met plenty of older adults who never had it done. The dentist said it probably wasn't necessary for my younger brother either.

I don't think so. I heard that as long as they grow out straight, it wouldn't cause any pain and so no need to take them out. I'm hoping also :)
