If they allow dogs in the finest French restaurants in Paris, France and Germany why cant people take their dogs into restaurants in the US? Paris is the most cultured city in the world. Are Americans just anti-dog or germophobic or what? Is it fair?

IT'S a cultural thing, also British are very found of dogs, Europeans are much more open minded than Americans, and Italian peasant probably speaks 3 or 4 different languages and in America most people speak only one. I will love to have dogs in restaurants as long as they are well train. It's not fair for animal lovers.

It is seen as both as a sanitary issue and a safety issue. How would you like to walk into a restaurant and see dog poop on the floor? And yes, you would think people would clean it up, but let me tell you I work in a vet clinic and lots of owners just leave it on the floor and don't even say anything.
Also, some dogs are mean. It's unfortunate but true. How would you like to be dining in a restaurant and some strange dog got away from the owner and came over and bit you. It's probably best to keep dogs out of restaurants.

In the land of the hand sanitizer and the anti bacterial everything?

It's odd. You can take a dog to some outdoor restaurants but often only those that have tables on the sidewalk and not those that have outdoor patios surrounded by a fence even though they are open to things like birds, squirrels, bugs and smoking.

Yes, I have seen people bring dog's into restaurants in Germany and everyone is happy to see the dog.

On the other hand, bring kids into a restaurant in Germany and people give you dirty looks.

Americans are very concerned about health and sanitation. Kudos to them! I love dogs but I would be very displeased if dogs were in the restaurant. For one, I would be alarmed to see dog hairs on my plate. In addition to that, Americans are very quick to file lawsuits and dog bites are a real threat. What about people who might be bttten by the dogs or those who have allergies to pets? I say love 'em but leave 'em at home.

because people dont see that as acceptable in america. in america u try to keep restaurants clean and tidy and and comfortable. having a dog in there that is shedding and barking is bad. most people dont want to find dog hair in their food. most people dont want to sit there and listen to a dog bark and growl at people when they r trying to eat in peace. in america u can take ur dog to restaurants IF it is a service dog. but other than that many people find it unacceptable. also there r a lot of people allergic to dogs and if someone got seriously ill from a dog in a restaurant then both the owner and the restaurant could be held liable. there r so many reasons. but these r just a few

I dont want to have to worry about my dog barking or bothering someone else while I am eating. It would not bother me to have a dog at a restaurant as long as it was well behaved. I would not be happy if a dog lifted its leg on something of mine though! LOL!
