No it's not dangerous your pup may need a stitch. I was bit on the finger by a turtle and it just left a small scar.

P.s. do you own a weeny dog?

I don't know how dangerous it is but turtles are some of the main carriers of salmonella. How that transmits or affects your pet I'm not sure. I would also be concerned that the turtle could bite a family member. Take both the turtle and the dog to the vet but keep your fingers away from the critter.

Yes, take it to the vet, because wild reptiles can carry all sorts (rabies,. salmonella.) I'd take the turtle too, so that the vet can check it for physical symptoms and may have a cleaere idea of how to treat your dog. And while it's there, the turtle can get a quick check-up so you know it's good to go back into the wild...If it does have something, I wouldn't want to release it back until it'd had treatment for anything that could possibly be spread to other wildlife.

The only dangers are possible infection and a dog that hates turtles. Clean the wound with chlorhexadine, Betadine, Hydrogen Peroxide, anti-biotic ointment, etc - he'll be fine.

BTW: snapping turtles will bite anything that moves - take it back to the river it came from.

Turtles are not venomous so all you have to worry about is the wound on the nose. You should take him to the vet, because the wound might become infected. Turtles do carry diseases and the wound needs to be cleansed properly and depending on how bad it is stitches might be required.

A turtles jaw is very strong- you can put a neosporin type antibacterial ointment on the dogs nose for a few days to help healing and prevent infection.

that was a snapping turtle. don't worry it is not dangerous but they give a nasty bite. i would clean the wound, so that the blood stops. but since your dog can't lick it, but some hydrogen peroxide so it won't get infected. take it to the vet or call your vet and get some advice.

Turtles aren't poisonous but your dog's nose could get infected. I would go to the vet anyhow and they can give it antibiotics or stitches if it needs it.

Definatley yes, because animals can be very good at hiding pain, and he may be hurt more than you know. If a ver tis not open near you, then try to get a 24/7 answering service and ask what they suggest. Let the dog rest and give him/her plenty of food/water...and space.

I would take him to the vet- it may need stitches and your dog may need to be on antibiotics. Stop the bleeding by applying firm pressure to his/her nose with a clean cloth right now though. Good Luck!
