When bible bashers stand in the street preaching, some christians stand and listen, others walk by and smile or ignore them. If an athiest did this saying God is not real, and expressing their theory of the big bang, people would probably ring the cops (this happened near me). I really dont understand.

Because being Atheist goes against the grain of everything believers have been taught. In their minds it is evil to the point of being criminal. Tolerance is not one of their strong points.

It's just simple statistics. 80% of Americans identify themselves as Christians. Therefore Atheists have a 4/5 chance of being feared and loathed by a Christian passing by.
As for other countries, can't help you there :-)

I'm a catholic, a Christan, and it kind of upsets me when people tell you what you belived in all your life is false.
but I'm not going to go pysco or anything like that. I respect what other people think. I can see your point though.

I have nothing against atheism or atheists. I have problems with people that call others stupid or ignorant because their beliefs differ.
