I have a 4 1/2 old puppy who sleeps in a kennel at night. Some nights she won't go in it, but a majority of them she will. She only does it at night and not when we are at work. We have tried everything (changing her eating habits, taking her out more, making the cage smaller ect...) Anyone have any ideas?

We had a similar problem with our puppy. We tried everything, so what we ended up doing was create an enclosed area directly outside his kennel. Then we'd leave the kennel door open and make sure the kennel is only the size so your dog can comfortably lay down and turn around. On the floor directly outside his kennel, we put down a puppy potty pad. That way there was either the pad, or the kennel.
He started to come out to potty on the pad at night. After a few nights of this, we took the pad option away. After that, he didn't go in his kennel anymore.
This worked really well for us, hopefully it will work for you as well! :) Good luck.
PS- We still got up every few hours to let him out! :)

A complete physical exam to rule out any health issues followed by starting over from the beginning with house training if there are no health issues. At some point, she was most likely accidentally trained that it was OK to use the cage as a toilet (either it WAS too big or he was left in longer then he could hold when a puppy). The cage needs to be cleaned with an odor eliminating product (not just with perfume) or beter yet, replaced. Retraining is much harder then training but can be done.

gusto had great propose, she's a clean dogs in a clean homestead with new human beings. that's going to take her slightly time. i'm particular on the guard they extremely have sufficient volunteers, actual? so the place did she circulate to the bathing room? she probable wasn't permit loose lots, and lost all her potty guidance that she would have had. and not in any respect rub her nostril in it. it does not something because of the fact they don't understand why you're doing that. i additionally would be sure you're making use of a great carpet cleanser to elimate the scent. they make ones for canines, which i'm assuming you have... yet they might scent the place they have long gone to the bathing room previously, and then think of that's ok to circulate there returned. i additionally accept as true with having her close to you. that's totally almost like having a doggy. in case you could not have faith her to not circulate to the bathing room then she should not be allowed to have unfastened roam. my doggy (9 weeks, have had him for 3 now) continues to be on the leash interior lots of the time. as long as we are able to make sure him, he would not would desire to be on it... yet we don't choose him stepping into something, or going to the bathing room interior (basically 3 pee injuries so a great way.) i understand the peeing/pooping situation probable has you 2 disillusioned, yet as you reported... you could not basically do away along with her, she will have the skill to finally end up interior a similar place on dying row. if the situation insists perhaps think of approximately looking right into a coach that way they might make sure her desires. you under no circumstances understand what her lifestyles grew to become into like previously you and must be the reason for the behaviors now. at petco they in many situations have unfastened potty guidance seminars, havn't been to a minimum of one, yet sounds like it must be very effective. in addition they have unfastened seminars on bringing you observed dogs homestead. uncertain if which would be a real extra healthful considering the fact that she's already homestead, yet nevertheless would be worth looking into. additionally, thank you for adopting! too many human beings circulate out and purchase a doggy from a petstore not understanding what they are stepping into. thank you for saving a lifestyles, now be sure you actual save her, do not permit her circulate returned to the pound!

Maybe it's because she's used to going in there, it became her favorite spot to go, try getting her to go potty before she goes in. Or try teaching her to go outside, take her for more walks, keep her out more. And then maybe she'll understand not to or she'll find a new favorite area to go.
