Why do they say you should avoid dating someone who is rude to service workers?

I am with someone who complains to drive thru workers, waiters and waitresses and other people who work in service.

I agree with Adam. People who are abusive have power issues and usually beat up other people, either verbally or physically in order to feel "big". In other words, they are insecure in themselves and who needs that???

There's an old Chinese saying: "If you want to see a man's true character, look not at how he treats his superiors and equals, but at how he treats his inferiors." If he complains to service workers, he'll likely complain a lot in your relationship. People like him seem to naturally consider most people beneath them. If you're with him long enough, he might start to treat you that way.

Pretty much if they are rude to people they don't know it shows signs of them eventually being just as rude and mean to people they do know and supposedly care about. Not to mention he has to be a bit dumb to yell at a service person, they could mess around and spit in his food and he would really be in trouble then. But yea, basically the rudeness he gives others could be turned back around on you.

Someone that is rude to service workers may be judging people based on their position and economic situation. This type of behavior is shallow and arrogant. I wouldn't want to date anyone that thinks that they are better than others based on income or position.

A service worker is someone who is incontrovertibly under your power. Abusing a service worker is abusing someone who absolutely cannot defend themselves. It's a form of bullying, and it indicates that this person will abuse YOU when he gets the chance.

Because people who do that, think that they're better than the service workers. Hence, they think they're better than some people. People who think they're better than other people have other traits that can be detrimental to relationships.
