In Massachusetts, to start about $40 thousand, and as you get older and more experienced....AND LUCKY....Lay offs of engineers are like wildfires!!!
You could make $90 thousand.
Usually company's find a reason to lay you off before you make any effective salary increase. UNLESS DAD or MUM own the company.
Sorry! I have heard go to Georgia or Texas to make the bucks.
Trust the WIFE of an ENGINEER....DO NOT PLAN ON WORKING IN MASSACHUSETTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There are studies done on this type of thing, might want to try searching for engineering sites and then do a subsearch for wages. It also depends on the field you are in as well as your location since the wages can vary greatly between states.

salary.com or hotjobs through yahoo have a pretty good salary calculator which takes zip code into account.

The values are a range based on experience and despite coming from industry information (reportedly) they might be on the high side since their business is to help people looking for jobs. And underpaid people often look. ;)

Good luck.

It depends greatly on what location and what type of company.
Be careful because higher paid jobs are often risky jobs.
Jobs follow the same rules as investment. You need to
research them as much as they do you. ie. futures.
