You'd find some followers...so I would say eventually, yes. Such as...write a new 'holy' book about your own created god/goddess, then give it to your kids, telling them that it's true, and start from there...eventually you'll start a religion...and may be considered a prophet, or even the son of your god...O_O

You could give it a shot -- it might work. I think it all depends on how charismatic, intelligent and good at BSing you are, and how committed to your little cause.

Also, it would probably help if you had some money to get you started (a fancy building usually impresses people) and maybe some loyal followers from the get-go to tell others you're legit.

Possibly if your material was good enough. I don't have to list the numerous attempts, of which David Karesh in Waco, Texas was one. People are like sheep. The Bible says so, and if you watch them you see that it is true.

One strongly confident person can aquire quite a following.

If! there are fools out there, some may follow, and yes you would be a prophet albeit a false prophet. Wow! I would hate the title.

No. In the later books there is alot said about "others will come in my name," false prophets and such. Therefore, Christianity further cemented themselves into unbending ignorance by stating that anyone one who tried to elaborate on the message or redefine it in anyway were blashphemers and tools of the devil. Take goinupru's statement as an example.

There are always some out there that would believe you. Now, if you can get celebrities to sign up and give you lots of money, the Scientologists would put a hit out on you.

Sure, some people will believe anything. Think about those crazy bas7ards that offed themselves thinking some stupid flying space ice-rock (comet) would take them away. Heaven's Gate I think...idiots. Just find a bunch of stupid disenfranchised people, be real charismatic and you got yourself a cult.

Maybe by some nut jobs.....

Most of us would just say you were another weirdo, because God already told us everything He needed us to know in the Bible.

The more followers you could attract, the more credibility you would have. But absent miracles and evidence that your prophecies are true, most wouldn't take you seriously.
