I add bacon, minced onion and a cube of beef bouillon for each 15oz. can. This is the only way my son will eat them.
They are good!

I have used fresh and canned. Have not used frozen. Either of the first two will turn out excellent. Below is for a generous 6 serving recipe. May be increased. Green Bean Casserole 40 min total 5 min prep time. 1 (10 3/4 ounce) can condensed cream of mushroom soup 1/4 cup milk 1/8 teaspoon black pepper 2 (14 1/2 ounce) cans cut green beans, drained 1 1/3 cups French-fried onions (French's) 1. Combine soup, milk and pepper in a 1 1/2 qt baking dish; stir until blended. 2. Stir in beans and 2/3 cup fried onions. 3. Bake at 350 degrees F for 30 minutes or until hot. 4. Stir. 5. Sprinkle with remaining 2/3 cup fried onions. 6. Bake 5 more minutes or until onions are golden. I have been preparing a gourmet meal every day for years. This is a ridiculous question, I realize that but when you have green beans in a can do you just put it in a pot & cook them? OR are you supposed to add stuff to them or water? I know some people put bacon in them but is there anything else?

Canned green beans do have nutritional value but they have added sodium. They are indeed inferior to the frozen variety. Your best bet would be to make the green bean casserole on the back on the French's fried onions. I think it was two cans of green beans drained, one can of cream of mushroom soup, half a cup of milk, a teaspoon of soy sauce (or salt), and 1 1/2 cups of French's fried onions. Mix all together except 1 cup of fried onions. Place in a casserole dish and top with onions. Bake in a 350 oven for about 25 minutes.

Canned green beans are OK by themselves, but sometimes use your imagination. Canned green beans go well with lots of things. Just mix them with corn and heat them and that's good. I sometimes use them with lots of different vegetables and chopped up meat to make soup. Try different things. Maybe you will find a good combination and everybody will love it.

omg joanne - canned green beans are already soft lol.
I just dump the contents of the can right in a pan and heat it up on the stove. All you need to do is heat them up (unless you're from the south lol). Then drain it and add butter. You can eat as much green vegies as you want so you can eat the whole can.

Probably not the healthy way to fix them. I usually fry up some bacon and set aside. Drain the beans and fry them in the bacon grease. Drain the beans on a paper towel. Put in a serving bowl. Crumble the bacon on the beans.

Canned Green Beans are cooked and can be warmed on the stove, in a fry pan or microwave as well as served directly from the can (drained in a salad is common). You can season them as you would any vegetable (salt, pepper, lemon juice, Mrs Dash, butter, etc). Since they are canned they are soft and if over heated can become mushy so it is best to either drain and heat or just drain and use directly from the can. Hope this helped!

Right out of the can is fine. If you want to jazz them up add a chicken bullion cube, and a little onion and salt and let them cook sown some. Or try a green bean casserole.
