They're on Frontline Plus, I've seen no fleas (have put diatomacious earth everywhere, bowl of Dawn dishwashing liquid under nightlight, vacuumed, washed bedding.) I've ordered WormX Plus which treats both tapeworms and three other worms just to be safe.

just because they're on frontline doesn't mean that fleas haven't gotten on them at some point. when they groom themselves, they can ingest a dead flea which is still capable of transmitting tapeworms to them. i had the same problem and asked my vet why they had tapes when i used frontline. that is the explanation he gave me. also, i would be real careful using any kind of wormer that you didn't get from the vet - a lot of the wormers you buy have ingredients in them that vets haven't used for years because of possible toxic reactions or ineffectiveness.

OTC wormer usually dont work. You have to get a wormer from your vets to be sure it works. Bring a stool sample in and get the right wormer for the dogs.

I have never heard of dawn liquid in a bowl under a night light. Whats that supposed to do?? Fleas will not be attracted to it and it will do nothing for tape worms.

Don't worry they may have just had a bad case that is why you worm again after 10 days to get rid of the left over eggs that may have hatched.. Also i know of a few breeders that worm once a mth.. so if in 10 days you can worm 4 Weeks later just to make sure you got them all

Over the counter dewormers work just fine, but you have to use the correct product. For tapeworms, the only drug that works is PRAZIQUANTEL. It is dosed according to body weight. It changes the tapeworms body chemistry so they can be digested harmlessly by the pets body. That is why you won't see them eliminated after deworming. If re-infected, you can see tapeworm segments in as little as 3 weeks again. Deworm as needed and continue with a strong flea control program (all pets treated monthly with topical Advantage or Frontline).

It usually takes more than one round of treatment to kill all of the worms in your pet's system.
Most vets will have you give the de-worming medication, wait 30 days, then give another dose. Then, they'll check a fecal sample in another 30 days to see if more medication is needed.

It does depend on the wormer. If it is an over the counter wormer those wormers don't get all worms. If it is from your vet then those will get all worms if you get the wormer and have told them specifically what worms you need to target.
