I think a grown man kissing his mom on the lips is pretty normal if it's a mother -son peck. Anything more doesn't sound right. The father kissing the preteen boy on the lips sounds weird to me personally. Usually preteen boys would be embarassed by that, but that will probably come a little later. As far as the father still doing it????? I'm not sure. Where I'm from that would be considered strange.

To answer the first question, a grown man kissing a mother on her lips may be in the same intent as a kiss on the cheek, a sign of care or respect, or it may just be a family thing, you have no reasons to believe it is for anything else.

As for a father kissing his son on the lips, that is quite odd, but it may be a family tradition, or something else, who knows.

Style and culture. Many groups within our society find silly the air kisses or cheek swipes of other groups. You are questioning lip kisses for adult relatives and between children and men. Do you object to a guy and a gal 15-20 years apart in age kissing on the lips when they meet? Do you assume it has a heavy sexual content? At what age should an adult stop kissing kids? Start?

My former mother-in-law kissed all of us on the lips. It was pretty weird; you had to turn your head at the last minute. They were just a lip-kissing kinda family - you know, peck-type kisses. But still.

My ex kisses our 10 year old son on the lips the same way. I was brought up to be a cheek-kisser, myself.

Well where im from thats seriously gross. However dont be soo quick to judge. Italian men kiss each other on the cheek in greeting and so do some French people and people in other parts of Europe.

Can u imagine a japanese man being vigourously kissed on both sides of his face as a greeting gesture he would be like WTF. Lol (Think about it,,,,asian men greet each other by bowing gently )

N hey i think its considered very gangster for memebrs of the mafia to greet each other like this or somehting they are definatly not gay or femanine in any way. Its just culture.

But in western culture I would consider that a little strange but not unusual.

He was not taught at a younger age that you don't kiss your mother on the lips. The cheek or forehead would be more proper.

Pecking on the lips I can understand, an actual kiss of any other kind I would be questioning.

Perfectly acceptable ... ( as long as there's no tongue involved ). A lot of close families still practice this ... especially on their heritage. I love kissing hello & good bye to my loved ones. Other families shake hands or hug or do all. My man's mom is 85 & his brothers & sisters still kiss, on the lips. Along with the rest of people they love.
