Is it inspiration from God? Lots of books are inspired by God that aren't in the bible, including the Koran and the Egyptian Book of the Dead, do you consider those holy scripture?

Is it the person who writes it? If that's the case, what are the criteria that makes them qualified to have their works considered the word of God? Is it just divine inspiration as listed above? If not, is it the person's credibility? If that's the case, shouldn't you toss out the entire bible? The Gospels are written by mystery writers that refused to sign their own names to their work, and Paul was such a bad person, before he could write his thoughts on salvation he had to change his name. The other writers are just as much a mystery.

Is it just a feeling? Lots of religions have those. Heck, you probably get spiritual feelings listening to your favorite song on the radio.

What exactly are the criteria? Can any Joe Schmoe off the street do it? Can God use anyone to tell his story?

And if so, why do you reject the Quran? Jews reject the New Testament because it isn't consistent with the word of God as they have it, or even with the ideology of Judaism, including the nature of God.

If God could inspire the New Testament, what makes you think he stopped there? Why limit him to just the books that were written two millenia ago? Why limit him to JUST christianity?

Please try to remember, there was no christianity before christianity, but many similar religions that also had salvation through the blood of the savior.

You carry up many well facets. The JW's have followed a category-procedure, however one who looks non-practical as close to everybody within the faith is in their "excellent crowd" alternatively of anointed. But they have got moderated this and only a few JW's are inclined to speak approximately the variations. So I am no longer certain that the Jehovah's Witnesses comply with both Jewish or Christian items immediately, it looks extra like a mish-mash of anything works quality for the governing frame of elders. They've continually positioned their possess demands above everybody else's, why might they difference now?

To answer your question one must first understand it. Obviously they can't comprehend what you're actually asking. This is so typical. Anyway there's nothing to justification calling the bible "the word of God", or "inspired" because the bible itself doesn't make that claim. The bible only says "God breathed" about "scripture" but it does not specify which scripture. In other words, that the Roman or Protestant bible canon is inspired is only a personal opinion, because their god never declared it anywhere.

Your confusion illustrates exactly the problem that the Protestant notion of Scripture creates.

The canon of Scripture was decided on by the Catholic Church. The criteria were that the authors were either Apostles or those who knew the Apostles. The ones who got to decide which books met the criteria were the bishops who were the successors of the Apostles. How did they know which ones to include? They chose the ones that conformed to the doctrines that they were taught by their predecessors, who were taught by their predecessors, who were taught by the Apostles, who were taught by Christ.

In other words, the Church's own members wrote the Bible, and so the Church knew what belonged and what didn't. Those books that taught some wacky theory about Jesus that every knew was wacky, were left out.

It's that simple.

Friend, who said lots of books are inspired by God?

There is one bible - and it is inspired by God. It is the word of God. Any book that does not exult the Lord Jesus is certainly not inspired because Jesus Christ is the center and climax of all the Old & New Testament.

The bible is inspired - that is, God-breathed. The story of the compilation of the canon of scripture is a worthwhile study. Do it. Read about it on-line.

god bless

The Church, the Body of Christ, who had life breathed into it by Jesus Himself and who received the infilling of the Holy Spirit at the First Pentecost....met in Seven Ecumenical Councils of the Undivided (Kath = according to...Holos = the whole) Catholic Church...and - under the divine Inspiration of the same Holy Spirit, and in those Councils, met, prayed, discussed, argued, compared historical facts, etc...and only those books deemed as "Theopneustos" (God Breathed) were canonized as Holy Scripture.

no one has an answer for that. actually they won't even understand such a subtle question. the Bible itself is the answer they'll say, cause it's God's word. they'll quote the Bible.. forget it pal.

I believe it has to have been used to justify one of the myriad of atrocities the Christian faith has been responsible for over the centuries in order to be considered holy.

The books that are in the Bible are the ones God chose to be there. All other books that arent, ARENT "God breathed".

God used those He chose to pen HIS words.

What kind of a God would leave us to our own devices and just say "Gee, I hope you figure out what I want ...good luck"

No, He left us a detailed account of His dealings with mankind and exactly what He did to secure our right standing with Him.

Most people simply arent interested.

I dont go by "feelings", but by what God has revealed in His Word as instructions specifically to me in this age of GRACE.

One must be called of God and hold the Authority to give Revelation to the world.

Amos 3:7

God calles prophets and apostles to do his work. It was done in ancient times and it is still done today.
