If you believe life does not begin at conception then why does a fetus kick and move around in his mother's womb. The fetus has a heart beat, a brain, DNA, and senses. The child is still breathing through the amniotic fluid. If you say life does not begin at conception then you also shouldn't believe life begins at birth. Abortion kills a Child. It also stops all of the possibilities the child could've been. He/she could of found a cure to cancer or many other diseases. That child has the same right to live just as born children do. Why can't you all just accept the right to life for the unborn instead of the right to an abortion?

it's all ironic- most people who are for abortion are liberal left wing nuts- who want freedom for all people except for those who cannot speak for themselves or when it's an inconvinence for them- they make me sick.

I don't think abortion is right, per se, but I do think it should be an option that is available for people to choose.

As for your argument that a fetus is a person, I do not agree. If that fetus is not viable enough to survive outside the womb, I don't think it counts as a person yet, just like the yolk in an egg doesn't count as a chicken yet. And I do believe that life begins at birth. If I didn't, as you say, when would life then be considered to begin? Sure, there is a chance that anyone could grow up to cure cancer or be something great, but the chances of that are very slim. However, the chances that a child born to unfit and unwilling parents will suffer from neglect, abuse, improper care or poverty are very good.

If you think that life begins at conception, then you should shed a tear for the death of babies everyday, because most pregnancies are unknowingly miscarried anyway. And no one seems to feel any pity for those lost children.

At conception it does not kick, move, or have a heart.

There is a huge difference between conception and birth.

A baby that can be born and manage to survive on it's own without the mother is a human being. A fetus that could not survive is still a potential human being because it was not fully developed. (I mean, what are people going to do, curse out mother nature for all the times a fetus was birthed too soon and died because it had no way to survive?) On the other hand...a cluster of calls at conception does not GIVE A DAMN.

Cure for cancer. Or really? What of those unused frozen embryos that we aren't allowed to use to help find those cures. And by that way they will be helping their species in such a huge way, more then any of us actual developed human beings could EVER even manage. We could never have that kind of impact on humanity. Is that not a better and more noble use to what won't be used and become a child? Because it's either that or they are THROWN OUT like garbage, which...correct me if I'm wrong, would be that much worse.

And btw, I don't think you will find many people who this abortion is "right." Most people aren't going to think it's RIGHT, however most people, even if they find it a sad concept, know the boundaries of trying to control the lives of other people. It may be a sad thing, but it is not up to me to dictate THEIR lives.

You obviously don't understand what conception is then. You do realize that for a while, a baby is nothing more than a tiny cell? That the baby cannot think or kick or sense anything? It isn't like you have sex and poof, you've got a little body with legs kicking a woman's bladder. Also, the DNA and heartbeat don't matter--but the brain's functionality does. Once a fetus is able to think, it's wrong to abort it in my view. Before then, it's fair game.

"a born child can't survive outside it mothers womb either"

Uh...yes it can. There are plenty of children that can survive outside their mother's womb.

"And btw, I don't think you will find many people who this abortion is "right." Most people aren't going to think it's RIGHT, however most people, even if they find it a sad concept, know the boundaries of trying to control the lives of other people. EXACTLY.

Ok i once answered a question like this and got flipped off, so before you critisize read my whole answer. Taking ones life, baby or not is wrong. However if you were a 15 year old girl who got pregnant you couldn't be able to deal with all the trauma of pregnancies and so on so on. It could be argued that they shouldnt have had sex in the beginning for it to end up like this but their kids and kids make mistakes. The case is different if your over the age of 18. Your legally an adult. You should be smart enough to know not to have sex unprotected, or at all even if you didn't want to get pregnant, even if there was only a slight chance. In general abortion is wrong but when it is needed then it should fall through.

More than 50% of all fertilised ova fail to implant on the wall of the uterus and abort naturally. Many more that do implant abort naturally shortly afterwards. Women are usually unaware that they have conceived. After a woman is aware she is pregnant, a natural abortion is called a miscarriage and there are many of these. Perhaps only 25% of conceptions go full term. That is an enormous redundancy.

Medical abortions are a drop in the ocean compared with natural abortions. If a fertilised ovum is a human being then every tampon and sanitary pad should be considered the coffin of a dead baby as, potentially, it is.

As no-one considers these natural abortions to be the killing of children, why do you get so upset about medical abortions? If you don't want one, that's fine by me but don't impose your beliefs on others who don't share them. It is a woman's right to choose what happens to her body, not yours.

Nobody thinks abortion is right. Especially me. What people fight for is keeping the government out of a womans right to choose. That's wrong. Abortion isn't right, but the government should stay out of it. You can prove all you want that a fetus is a viable human and I'll back you 100%. But within the womb it is part of the womans body and that also is easily provable. Only she, not the government, should decide what any of us do with our own body.

Your question about possibilities is slightly confusing. If you consider the potential of every human being that might exist, why not have as many children as your body will allow? Thirteen or fifteen?

Otherwise, I would say we've all got to draw a line somewhere. You draw the line at conception, therefore you have the option not to have an abortion, that's your right.

your determination of when life begins is simply an opinion. While I respect your opinion it is not one which is widely held and has not been the traditional opinion throughout history. Perhaps, this newfound definition is superior to the old idea that life begins at birth.

I also think that a woman should have ultimate control over her body. So that's a problem. When I have a womb, maybe I'll have more to say on it, but I don't, so I won't.

I agree with you, but remember, this IS the Spirituality (or lack there of) section.

The baby's heart beats on the 22nd day. By the eighth week, all features in a full grown baby are developed.

And for any one saying he is ignorant because he is a male, some women can't have children. I have not heard any one criticize a pro-life woman because she can't have kids. It is a purely sexist argument.

There are 6 billion people infesting this small planet right now. Perhaps life is not as precious as you make it out to be.

Oh- and fetus don't kick until way after the 1st trimester when abortions take place. Nobody is doubting that life is forming, but it could just be a rational decision, rather than an emotional one.
