Intelligent design is (supposedly) not the same as creationism.
Evolution is not about coincidence, accidents, or chance.

By the evidence you've given, it's not so much as Intelligent Design, but more of behaviorisms and survival tactics developed over time. Ants are resilient and determined creatures. And to make a home near a food source is prudent for survival. Think of it like this, would you choose to live 100 feet from a super market or a mile? Birds have always made nests long before the civilization of man. To say that they could not do this without our help, would be bad logic. One can also say that birds choose to nest in trees because the height ensures the safety of their young and of themselves. Intelligent design is a belief, religious or not. And religious beliefs are neither right nor wrong, but are assertions. So it's bad logic to call other people fools for not accepting your subjective views.

Evolution IS part of the splendor of creation. It is one of the means by which God created us and all the creatures of the earth.
Just because chance is a component of evolution, does not mean that it is purposeless. In human terms, chance can be used as a tool, similar to tossing a coin before a game to see who goes first--it is used to ensure fairness. See more in this thought-provoking article: http://www.asa3.org/ASA/PSCF/2006/PSCF12-06Woolley.pdf
Moreover, I say chance is only a *component*--evolution is also constrained by the environment in which the organisms live and the physical laws of the universe. Which of course, are also established by God.
Hope this helps!
In Christ,
Christine

it is not one accident. it is a long series of accidents. coincidences are to be expected.
the proponents of intelligent design have only to demonstrate a rigorous way of determining design. as it is, their 'method', stripped of its protective but useless mathematical and philosophical coating, amounts to pointing to things and saying, 'gosh, that looks designed to me'.
your facile skepticism of evolution is not very useful.
so yes, i deny intelligent design.
longview: if i'm not mistaken, the bible says man was created from the dust of the *ground*, not the stars or sky. perhaps it's a metaphor...

I don't deny that the Lord willed that life should occur on this planet. But I don't buy the creation story in Genesis.
I'm Christian, but that doesn't diminish my intellect, or ability to reason.
I don't believe in the theory of evolution, but tell me...is it so hard to believe that the Lord might possibly have intended for evolution to occur? Couldn't he have willed for life to come from 'primordial ooze', and evolve into modern earthly life forms?
Something interesting I noticed...the creation story in Genesis has the creator creating us from dust. Well, many scientists believe that life originally came from *star*dust. Isn't that interesting?
:-)
Be well.

even if evolution was wrong, this still would not prove creationism and similiar stuff:
science does not think to have all the answers, it is just searching for them.
When religion faces a mistery instead, it resolves it by saying "god did it!".
Plus, why do you religious care about it?
