If you plan on having a moral society it is relevant. One of the main jobs of the Christian church is to teach others the gospel of Jesus Christ. Without God, there would be no moral absolutes. God gave Moses the laws for man to live by and God said if we'd live by the laws we would do well.
Proverbs 26:2 "As the bird by wandering, as the swallow by flying, so the curse causeless shall not come." This is saying a curse doesn't come on a person without a cause. Sin is the cause of curses. In God's law He tells us how not to sin.Exodus 20 gives us the Ten Commandments, but the Book of Leviticus gives us law after law.

Even in consideration of Israel, God says, "I will curse those who curse you and I will bless those who bless you." God set laws on Israel and how to treat them.

Jesus said that He would give us the Holy Spirit. Jesus also said that we must be born again. We are born first of water and our mother's womb. We are born again by the Spirit which connects us back to God. In the Garden at the Fall we were disconnected from God. At Salvation by the Spirit we were reconnected to God.

Jesus said, in John 14:15, "If ye love me, keep my commandments."

Matthew 5:17 Jesus said, "Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill." And verse 18 "for verily I say unto you, till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled." Jot or tittle is smallest Greek letter or least stroke of a pen. We would say crossing a "t" or using a "comma."

Jesus quoted Old Testament Scripture many times while He walked the earth. And He said "If you love me keep my commandments." When we are born again the last thing we want to do is disobey the Lord. It grieves us to sin or break any commandment of God's.

In John 15:5 Jesus pretty much tells us that without Him we can do nothing. But when the Holy Spirit comes in He teaches us all things and convicts us and brings to remembrance the Holy Scriptures and helps us with our Spiritual Walk. Whatever the Holy Spirit begins in us He is more than able to finish. The Holy Spirit purifies and refines us and will have us ready to meet the Lord.

I hope this helps.

No one is held under the Mosaic (Moses) law which is quite extensive and goes beyond the typical ten commandments found in Exodus. However, there are socially held and govenmental rules that still do follow the "do not kill" (unless by abortion, embyos for stem cells or euthanasia - all debatable).
"adultery"
"lying"
One could go to jail/prison for killing.
Most spouses prefer not to be cheated on.
Lying can get you into trouble some of the time and most people loathe being lied to.

Additionally: These common set of values permeate all of humanity. We believe that God's laws are written upon our hearts (everyone's) and is only partially explained by the law given by Moses. Secular humanism and science cannot explain these commonly held values. Such as - if lying is a form of self-protection, then why do most humans hate being lied to? If procreation (not exclusively monogamous) is a form of "survival of the fittest", why do most spouses hate adultery when they are the victim?

If we did away with these values (rooted in Christianity), chaos ensues. Objective morals exist and their source is from God Himself.

No we do not follow the laws of Moses--Jesus death & resurrection filled the old law(covenant) But the 10 commandments were restated by Jesus--like not commiting adultery includes lusting in the mind

You want us to do your homework for you?????

Believing in God is relevant to any society. The "christian church" as it stands today is a hodge podge of differing belief systems that have NO clue what program God is currently IN today. Thats why its in such a state of confusion.

We must find out from the scriptures, what program God is operating under today and then cooperate with Him IN IT...then and ONLY then will the christian church be relevant.

All other attempts are mere "churchianity" and "playing at religion".
