Bless you. If you feel you are up to the challenge of the Marines, than go for it. Yes you can get your degree and join something else after the Marines. You have that freedom. (that is if you aren't too old). Best of luck.

I have been in the national gaurd and the marine corp, if you want a challenge then the marine corp is best bet. As for becoming a nurse you cannot be a nurse in the marine corp, they don't have medical feilds the navy takes care of hurt marines. Honestly if I had it to do over I would just join the navy or the airforce, you will be treated with more dignity and have better job oppurtunities. Don't try to join the marines just to say you done it. I would pick a branch and stick it out. You will more than likely have to complete your four year contract before you get out. Another thing in the corp, I wanted to go to school also, and you can but, your job and duties will always come first, don't listen to everything recruiters tell you, it's up to your C.O. and just depends on how flexible he is willing to be. You will need to take the ASVAB test to determine what jobs you are qualified for, study hard because this will determine your career options. There are even books that you can buy at the bookstore to study for it. Also you'll want to start working out some, especialy if you do join the marines, there is alot of running involved, so being semi- in shape will atleast make it somewhat easier for you. That helped me a lot. Be mentally prepared and don't take the critisicm personal they're just doing their jobs. And I hope you are comfortable being micro-managed and confined to bases and certain areas, and i'm not talking about boot camp, I mean when you get into the fleet, you won't have a lot of the freedoms that civilians have. You will always have several people to answer to and please. Just wasn't my thing I like being my own person and comming and going as I please, but Good-luck to you whatever you decide.

I think the Army has got the most career fields open to women. Really, a lot depends on what kind of job you want to do.
One of the best things to do in my opinion is go and talk to the four service recruiters and maybe the Coast Guard as well. Tell them what you envision as your career goals and then ask how their particular service can help you reach those goals. The services tout themselves as a great way to start. I agree. But talk to each recruiter, get some literature and make a decision that you will be happy with.
Once you makek up your mind, know it will be challenging and rewarding and sometimes you will think "What was I thinking" and "Boy do I want to go home" and "How can I get out of this". But those feelings will pass. Do your best, keep your word and finish what you started. Then you can look back on your life and be prooud you did something for your country. But one piece of advice. Before you go to basic training (AF and Army) or Boot Camp (Navy and Marine Corps), get in decent physical shape. Make sure you can run 2 miles in less than 18 minutes and can do push-ups and sit-ups. Being in good physical shape will make basic training so much more enjoyable. And once you get there, remember it won't last forever and YOU CAN DO IT. Just don't quit and be positive and it will be over with before you know it.

Well, what are your options as far as PAYING for college? Any branch of the military can help you do that, if you're not in a position to do so yourself. If you want a challenge, I would definitely say the marines are the way to go. But look at the options for jobs for all the branches and decide from there. I'm partial to the marines, mainly because I'm married to one, but if you want to be a nurse, maybe you should consider the navy so you can start out as a corpsman? Then you can travel with the marines and take care of injuries on the spot. That's gotta help when it comes to getting into nursing school. Or if you prefer, you can go ahead and go to college, become a nurse, and get paid better for serving your country. Some people really want to travel before they start on a career. There are all kinds of options for that in pretty much any branch of the military, but if you don't want to move somewhere overseas for extended periods of time, Marines or Navy are your best bet.
Talk to recruiters from all four branches, and see what they have to say. Make sure you get it all in writing before agreeing to anything, because unfortunately there are recruiters out there who will lie to you.
Good luck!

Air Force.
I'm in the Marine Corps. Reserve. I use to go to college full time while drilling, but I'm about to get activated again, so I dropped out this semester. I also have a brother who did R.O.T.C. at Louisiana tech. He became an officer in the Air Force and loved it. He did the security forces, which is the military police for the Air Force. Plus, a dear friend of mine ( Who is a female) went to College on an R.O.T.C. scholarship and became a Marine Officer. She had a rough time with it and a direct quote from her about the Marine Corps..."It's hard, this is a mans world and it's not going to change".
Don't get me wrong my M.O.S. Doesn't allow females, but their are plenty of opportunities for woman to go far in the Corps. And don't let me discourage you. You will be treated fairly.
But, think about what you really want to do. Nursing. The Navy supplies the Marine Corps. with all its Medical needs. I don't know how Navy Corpsman get to be with Marine Units. You should Probably ask someone about Navy Medical units and how they get stationed with Marine corps. units. This way you get the best of both worlds.
But if you want, the Air Force is a real nice deal.....They have nice bases, treat their people really well, good facilities, and good base locations.
Good luck.

Well, you want to serve your country, get college money, a challenge and military benefits. You are interested in the medical field. I would say look into the Coast Guard. It's a small branch of the military where you can fulfill all of your 'wants'. Every job in the USCG is open to women. They are like a big family- approx 40,000 people- and you won't be overlooked like you can in other branches. Talk to a recruiter, take the ASVAB and look into Health Services (HS). The Coast Guard is a lifesaving service. Give it some consideration. Good luck with whatever you choose.

The Marines are small. We have only about 11% females. You could get some schooling to help you achieve your goal. You just have to be up for a challenge. Not many females choose the Marines. Remember you train separate from the males and are trained just as hard. If that is the route you choose
Semper Fi and good luck

Females are needed in all branches. Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines and the Coast Guard. It depends on your ASVAB score as to which branch I would recommend for you. Have you taken the test yet?

possibly this could open your eyes a sprint. it extremely is a quoted assertion from a Marine who grew to become into chatting with a militia Reservist female who grew to become into thinking approximately attempting to modify to the Marines and bypass advert. under i've got referenced the positioning. Btw, do not hate me for it...This extremely is the opinion of maximum the boys i be responsive to. examine out the hyperlink, and you will see all the different human beings commenting agreed with this guy. in any case, it is it: "i be responsive to this is going to ruffle some feathers, yet oh nicely. i will extremely say that there are merely some WM's that i've got met that are nicely worth a rattling. to not say that each and all of us WM's won't be in a position to be equivalent to or extra helpful than Male Marines, yet in actuality that they don't seem to be allowed to. they're meant to be "taken care of like our equals", yet they don't seem to be. they don't seem to be predicted to accomplish besides as their male opposite numbers, consequently, their overall performance drops because of the fact the bar is decreased.they actually get particular scientific care and pampered maximum human beings of the time. on the comparable time, they get the smallest quantity of appreciate in spite of rank. P.S. Now, it is me, Shary, speaking: You get housing on your dependants, and you will certainly declare your mom as a dependant and value BAH/on-base housing. (i be responsive to human beings who've completed this.) Btw, to respond to your question approximately which branch is right, little doubt that's the Marines. merely be certain you have your pastime face on.
