I just saw "September Dawn" and am appalled at the Mormon attitude toward the incident.

I have not seen the movie, nor do I care to. It is my understanding, from interviews I have seen with the movies producers that they had no desire to find out the facts- they had an ax to grind and they did. They were very biased and wanted to bring out their biased point of view as fact. If you really want to know how the LDS church feels and responds to the Mountain Meadows incident here is a link with a lot of information about the incident. But like the producers of the movie, you probably don't want the truth. The church does not take responsibility, because the church was not responsible. This was an incident that started to unfold, so quickly that by the time the main leadership of the church found out- it was too late for them to stop it. The men who orchestrated the massacre were excommunicated. Don't blame the actions of a handful of people on the entire group. It is really irrational for you to blame it on us now, none of us had anything at all to do with it.

I have read some but not all of the articles on this link- but I assure you that if you care about the accurate information, this is where you will find it.

"September Dawn" is very one sided, true anti-Mormon literature. We don't take responsibility for the MMM, just as we don't condone it either. We don't take responsibility for the Salem Witch trials or teh Spanish Inquisition.

Are you going to take responsibility for all the murders, rapes and stealing that people did o the Mormons in Missouri and Illinois? All the men who did those atrocities declared themselves Christians. Some even thought they were doing God's work.

Did you know one MAN took a TEN YEAR OLD BOY, unarmed, and shot him POINT BLANK in the head, then said "Nits make lice".

Umm.. because is wasn't the Mormons of today that did it! It was a group of men that decided, against the expressed orders of Brigham Young, to take action. Brigham had told them to leave those people alone, and they didn't listen. That isn't the church's responsibility if someone goes off and does something on their own. That's why we don't take responsibility for it. Why should we? We had nothing to do with it. Just because the men to who did it were Mormon, doesn't mean that everyone in the church thought it was right. Here's a website for you that is about this. Scroll down to the section that starts with "by the way".

All the Mormons who were alive when it happened are now dead. Everybody who had a memory of a Mormon who was alive when it happened is also dead. It's not the same Mormons. As for the attitude of the Mormon church, like all churches they are not democratically run. They'll come out with a statement and the Mormons will either agree or they won't. Mormons are Mormons, of course, but normal people were keeping slaves at the time. We don't feel guilty because our ancestors kept slaves, do we?

So you were the one who saw it. Looks like it is 24th place this week after Heyy Babyy.

Read the last issue of the Ensign. It has an article telling the story. There are no excuses or justifications given. Visit the monument and see that the Church does public acknowledge what happened.

September Dawn is a propagandistic movie that is full of lies and deceit. The Church never had anything to do with the Massacre.

Hey buddy let me tell ya something, I am Mormon, and my Great Grandfather was there.

From what his journal says the opposition fired the first shot. Then it was returned by Porter Rockwell.

Once you've been burned out of your home, had your family raped and murdered, had your religious leaders assassinated, been forced to trek across the plains in the dead of winter, and then have another buch of jerks show up and try it again...

Ask yourself... What would you do? Kill every one of them or let history repeat itself.

Don't believe everything your pastor who gets paid well on his wages from your offering plate tells you. If your leave his congregation, he looses what? $10,000 a year in untaxable income?

Our Mormon Bishops are entirely UNPAID and have to provide for their own needs.

Sign me up to be a Pastor anyday for the kind of untaxable bankroll they get...

I saw the DaVinci Code. Why doesn't the Catholic Church take responsibility for all that?
It is a fictional story based on a historical event. There is no evidence that Brigham Young or any other Church leaders sanctioned the attack. It was a tragic event, and we all wish that it had never occured, but there is no reason to blame the Church then or now for it.

Why should a group take responsiblity for something done by their people long, long ago? No Mormon of today should share any blame for it.

That happened over 100 years ago no one alive today was alive then. Think about that, before you get all high and mighty.
