Do people want to get a free pass without having to do anything for it? Why would anyone want to go to heaven if they do not love God enough to obey and worship God while alive and on earth. You gotta pay your dues.

I just finished reading a book called "Beam Me Up, Jesus: A Heathen's Guide to the Rapture." It's meant to be humor, but there's a lot of truth hiding in humor, you know.

There is a real inconsistency in the Christian fundamentalist doctrine of the Rapture, in that the rhetoric says being "born again" in some way that is almost impossible for non-Christians to understand (and a great many Christians, too, apparently), is what you need. It really does not matter whether you are a good person or not, but only whether you "get with the program."

That is irrational if you are supposed to admire, even worship, the God who set that one up. They tend to get around this by saying that once you are born again, you become a good person just naturally, because that's what having Jesus in your heart does for you. Well, we have all seen and heard of people who profess to be born again who are much more hateful than the average atheist.

Personally, I just call the whole thing a myth, not to be taken seriously except as a metaphor for events which actually took place a long time ago. To me, the Book of Revelation (from which the stuff about Rapture comes) is about what happened in like 300 to 400 A.D., as the Church became corrupted by the power it developed in taking over Rome. The "Whore of Babylon" is often taken to mean Rome, sitting on seven hills.

Hi there -
I'm sorry, but you are either a whole Christian or not one at all.

Hope that doesn't sound too harsh. I grew up going to church and would have called myself a Christian, but I really had never made a decision to follow Christ!

Later on when I started studying the Bible I realized that we all need a Savior & that Jesus is the way to heaven.

So, here is the answer you your question - we cannot be good enough without Jesus.

The Bible is the infallible Word of God. All of the Biblical prophecy that has been fulfilled to date has been 100% accurate. the Word of God is true and trustworthy.

SO, since the Bible says that the ONLY way to heaven is through receiving salvation through Jesus, that is what it really means. There are lots and lots people who do good, who are not heaven-bound.

Everyone is born with a sin nature. Everyone sins.
Sin is what separates us from God.
Jesus shed His precious blood on the cross to make a way for us to be reconciled to God, to make a way for us to go to heaven.
To be a Christian and have the assurance of everlasting life with God in heaven, one needs to:
-repent of sin
-receive Jesus as Lord and Savior
-make a decision to follow Jesus Christ

I hope this helps you. Read and study the Bible, if you want help with Bible study email me.

Half Christian? You either are or you aren't.

I don't believe in the Rapture per se such as Evangelicals and Fundamentalists do.

I do believe in a time of evil and good coexisting as it does now until Christ's coming. I guess you would say I am of the amillennial view rather than pre or post.

Don't fear dearest. Trust in the Lord, confess your sins and believe in him with all your heart, strength and mind. Love him the same way. You'll be fine.

In His Love,
J

I don't know what half Christian is! Whats the other half? Lets figure that out first. Then we will address the other questions if they don't already get answered for you. It sounds like your heart is in the right place.

I hate to say it but...that's pretty much how it goes...all Christians go up...all non-believers go down...no matter HOW good-hearted...it has something to do with accepting Jesus...even the ones who never HEARD of Jesus in the more remote parts of the world...goin' down...the sad part of Christianity....

don't believe everything you hear, listen to what your heart says, many non-christians are better than many who claim to be christians & vice-versa...
God sees our hearts, not religion. Religion is a means to an end, I mean religion is supposed to help us become better people, that's all.

you don't go to heaven by good works it takes faith you believe Christ died on the cross for your sins
works without faith is dead
and faith without works are dead
many people will get saved during the tribulation though it wont be a fun time then they've all had a chance and the tribulation period is their last.

Mind you, not all Christians believe in a pre-tribulation "rapture"... I think this is a fairly modern protestant evangelical innovation...
