ok people if you read this, there was not much damage afterall, we checked the car, nothing severe, just a bent bumper and a safety bar, the people are good guys, and we needed to get to school, we have a 2000 dodge caravan in our garage that we cat get rid off, lol, its identical the my plymont voyager, and it had a good bumper and a safety bar, we aggred them to pay us 300$, all we gota go unsrew a couple screws, but when the car hit us, it felt like the other half of the car was blown off, everything is good, and the car can survive another crash like that, the worst thing would be if the chassis were bent, the car looked exactly like it was, just like somebody said you can make small accidents let go, its not a big deal now, we will get some cash and replce the parts from our old van, thanks so much guys, its really ok, all that was damaged is the bumper, well at least i know how it feels when a car hits you lol, thanks guys

Dad just gave you a good lesson in what not to do.
Police first, insurance company second. Always.
Damages add up quick. And it sounds like you have over 1000 easy.

You are 100% right, you should have called the cops then!!! B/c if there is a police report of it, there is nothing they can do to get out of it!! Now it is possible. I would get an estimate on the damage, that way you can show tangable proof to the mother of how much the damage is. I wouldn't just give them an estimate unless you are a car mechanic. Your best bet is to talk to the mother when she comes over, tell her you are going to get an estimate and then call her back when you have one. Good Luck!!

Girls are so charming aren't they?

First of all, everyone who drives needs insurance. That being the case, don't be a sucker again!

To be fair to the girl and her mother (and not take advantage of them), call the mother, and ask for her insurance company information. Then, once you have it, call her insurance company, and tell them everything - just as you told us. They will send their own adjuster out to look at your vehicle and determine the fair price for repairing your vehicle. That's fair.

If you or the mother try to determine the cost of your damage, you will NEVER be able to do it! What if there is frame damage? There is so much you don't know about the cost of repairing a vehicle. Leave it to the experts.

How are you taking advantage of them? They have insurance and don't want to go that way. They are taking advantage of YOU.

Next time, make sure you receive the name, address and phone number of the person - as well as - the name and phone number of the insurance company of the person.

In most states, you don't need to get the police involved in minor fender-benders, but you do have to call THEIR insurance company to get them to pay for your vehicle's damages. Then, call YOUR insurance company.

Whenever it is someone else's fault, they might try to get away from their responsibility, but YOU will end up paying for the damages, unless you handle it appropriately next time.

you need to get an estimate from a body shop. if they will not pay for it then you can still go through your insurance company. Your insurance carrier will investigate and get the money from their insurance company. Don't wait too long. You can call your ins co. now and they will explain the options to you. The police can't do anything now since they did not witness the accident scene. All they can do is take your statement at this point.

Your dad was foolish not to call the police. If it happened very recently then he should still do so just in case it helps a smidge. But he was foolish because the insurance companies likely won't get involved without a police report.

It is asinine for you to ask "how much should we charge them" on here; if your father is at all competent (which he might not be, given he didn't call the police) he will get an estimate and try to deal reasonably with the girl's mother.

You should stay out of it; stating that you were going to get out of your car and hit her car with a bat shows that you are not yet mature enough to handle any aspect of this situation.

I wish you had started swinging a bat; then she would have called the police on you. At least then they would be involved.

Stick to your math homework, hun.

there is a high likelyhood you are SCREWED since you or your dad didn't contact the police no matter what the excuse the girl gave you as long as it wasn't life threatening!!!

first off, your dad should call the police and tell them exactly what happened, every minor detail. then he should call the insurance company and tell them the same thing. both might tell you to go pound sand since there really is no evidence of what you are telling them... hopefully, the family of the girl is honest and will stand behind what truly did happen, but they could be anal and stand the ground that there is no proof, your word against theirs...

I wish for the best to come out of all this but that is not the norm any more these days...

first, you should have made a police report. in some states, it is mandatory to report all accidents within so many days of the incident.
i suggest you take your car to a body shop and get an estimate, in writing. better yet, get two different ones and split the difference. that way it's not just your guestimate. make sure to get any agreement IN WRITING. it's very important.
check with your insurance about filing a claim (hopefully both you and her are insured).
if that doesn't work, take her to small claims court.

Call your insurance company. RIGHT NOW. Then call the police. If you dont; you can lose alot of your rights and have ALOT of problems if you have to go to court. ALWAYS call the police and at least get a report filled out if someone hits you; even if it did no damage.
She hit you; you need to report it and get your car fixed.

Don't be an idiot...tell your dad to contact his insurance company and file a claim. This situation is going to turn very, very ugly.

You need to contact your insurance company so they can go after them. You also need to file a police report if they will not cooperate.
