i've been thinking and there are 2 main concepts or precepts that keep religions standing, and it will be so for long from now. i have no doubt religion will be wiped out from the Earth in the long run as more men choose to think and reason instead of just hold blind faith, but i might not be to witness such an event.

"faith": excellent resource used by the creators of religion. There'll never be a single piece of evidence for something that doesn't exist, so "faith" is turned into an overrated virtue. Believe no matter what we can't offer you.

"God's ways are mysterious": We don't get tired of describing God and bestowing more and more attributes on Him, but His ways keep being mysterious. No matter what He does, He's always right. Wonder why we keep worshipping a being whose ways we don't understand and believe blindly. If His ways are mysterious He could easily be setting us up.

Actually, both of these rhetorical devices are far more common among Christians than in religion generally. Or are you one of those who sees Christianity as the only relevant religion?

Sounds like you need to do some soul searching. Sure, God works in mysterious ways...but He always works according to His Word. Therefore, if you know the Word of God, then you will be able to recognize the work of God. We do not blindly follow a being. He gave us the bible to teach us all the intricate details of His purpose, will, and love for us. Why would God send His Son to die for you if it is all a "set-up"? God loves you more than you know...why don't you take your question to Him? Start with these....Genesis 15:6; Romans 10:9; James 2:21; Deuteronomy 7:9; Romans 1:6-7; Acts 17:11; James 1:5; Romans 15:13; 1Corinthians 6:14; Titus 1:1-2......These are just a few, if you're truly serious about your question then look these up and read them. I pray that God opens your spiritual eyes and prepares your heart right now to receive His Word. I pray that He gives you wisdom and understanding as you seek to know Him more. I speak against the powers of the dark world that would come and steal the seeds planted in your heart after reading the word of God. I pray that the Holy Spirit takes up residence in your heart and causes The Word of God to stay with you and accomplish that which it is sent to do. I pray that you have a willing and teachable spirit within you as you accept the Word of God for truth. May you live to know Him more, In Jesus name, Amen.

Dear kid next door,

The Bible is God's word. You knew that I would say that right? Did you know that "faith" is a synonym for Jesus Christ? Go to Hebrews 11 in the King James Bible and every time you see the word "faith" insert "Christ".

God wrote the Bible in parabolic language so that those who would approach it with pride or arrogance would immediately find fault with it. God resists the proud and gives grace to the humble. Many people appraoch the Bible and expect God to do some "supernatural sideshow" to prove His existence. God does not owe man 1 thing. In fact, it is the mercy of God to even save one human being from what they deserve-hell. Perhaps 1 day, you might be able to go to third world country where there is famine, disease, war, etc. We Americans have such a soft life.

The Bible is such a blessing of God. God tells us, To whom much is given, much is required. You will have to give an account of your life to the God whom you say does not exist. That day is going to be the worst day for a great number of people who have mocked God.....who have thought they were smarter than God. I do not hate you-I really pity you.

You're close, but haven't quite gotten to the point. The commonality between those two reasons, and the real source of religion, is human ignorance. And since that comes installed in all newborns, it will be a never ending fight.

If you knew you were going to die tomorrow... would you not pray that the outcome would be different?
I feel SO sorry for people that don't believe in God. Ultimately YOU will parish... but we who believe will live on.
This world is FULL of horrible things... bad things happen to good people all the time. Illnesses, sudden untimely death, etc. etc... Faith is knowing that when we are finally done in this world, we will have nothing but happiness when we die and are taken to Heaven. Your worst day in Heaven will be better than your absolute best day on Earth. That is why Christians have faith. We're looking forward to a home with Him.

You are too funny! When you truly take the time and get to know and understand "God" he is not a mystery at all. People that cannot explain why all the pain, suffering, sickness, cruelty in this world use the excuse of "God moves in mysterious ways." Think outside the box, educate yourself, and not believe what other people/religions tell you.
