Since the room is large and bright, all that white might be too much. You could paint the room, then add accents in matching or better yet, coordinating colors. So the walls could be neutral, with bright accents, or even a dark chocolate with neutral accents (muted tans, silvers, greens, blues etc.) or bright accents. You could do a duvet cover on the couch if you wanted, or a throw across the back of it.

Then again, if you are liking the white, you can go with varying shades of it everywhere - adding in off-whites in all sorts of patterns and textures. Or you could paint one wall as an accent wall, or paint vertical stripes to draw the eye up to the high ceiling.

Finally, artwork could be displayed gallery-style or eclectically around the room. Then the focus would be on the art, with a nice crisp background, and the white itself becomes art while simultaneously being a cool background.

Just a few ideas - I'm sure there are tons more! Good luck! (:

To begin with, you need an area rug to add color & testure to the room:

Once you choose a rug that you like, whether it's a traditional oriental pattern or something more contemporary, that will give you an idea where to go with the rest of your decor.

Next, buy colorful pillows & throws for the sofa. Do you have any chairs in your living room? If not, add a couple of arm chairs in a color that will complement the rug:

Window treatments are another way to add some color & texture:

This will also help you color the brightness in your room.

Are you able to paint? If so, then once you've chosen your rug & accessories, go to the paint store & find something that will work with those elements.

For example, let's say you choose this rug:

Then I would choose these chairs:

These pillows:

These blinds:

And use Sherwin Williams' "hopsack" color paint.

If you want to keep everything that is already white white, then make sure that everything else has color. Pick a color scheme that you like and run with it! You pretty much have all the freedom in the world! Throw rugs, accent pillows, candles, artwork... your possibilities are endless. I would say watch a few episodes of your favorite design show and see how they use color and try to mimic that. Good luck!

Don't bring anything else white in the house!! Only colorful things--rugs, lamps, pillows, art--big stuff!

Whatever you do, be sure to put your furniture away from the walls. This will make a big space feel more cozy.

I would paint the walls a soft toffee color and add bright pillows to the couches. Red?

1] add plants, in wood or brass or chrome tubs
2] pick a color you like for window treatments and throw pillows - maybe include in an area rug
Examples:
red or pink or burgundy
orange or peach or rust
lemon or banana or gold
kelly or lime or olive
mint or jade or forest green
aqua or turquoise or teal
sky or royal or navy
lavender or purple or plum
caramel or coffee brown
3] add art with a little bit of that color included - all frames ideally same color and material - brass/chrome, oak/walnut, colored enamel
4] match ornaments/accessories to color of drapes, or wood, brass, or chrome
