For the record... and for all contributors, hydrogen peroxide is actually completely ineffective as an antiseptic on wounds. I always thought it worked well too, but after taking microbiology I learned that catalase (an enzyme released from damaged human cells) breaks hydrogen peroxide down into oxygen and water instantly, which is what you see bubbling. Peroxide is great for disinfecting and sterilizing inanimate objects like tabletops and instruments, but worthless on people.
PS- Get a tetanus shot and soak your foot in hot, clean water. If it gets red and hurts more (than it does today) within the next week, get medical help.

I would go straight to the ER as others have mentioned aside from using the peroxide and a bandage. I had something similar happen to me by my own carelessness :) I haphazardly used a nail clipper to try to clip the hairs off of my big toe(s) [I know, should've done so with a razor in the shower ;) and accidentally clipped some of my skin off as well. I went to the ER so that they could treat it properly, and they gave me a tetanus shot too. Better be safe than sorry as the ol' adage goes. Once a person gets tetanus, there is No cure.

Have you had A TETNIS shot??????
I don't know if I spelled it right but if you haven't had one you can get an extremmly bad infection. I believe that they are good for 10-15 years but do need to be updated. If you just need the a good cleaning solution then I would suggest BAND-AID wash. You can find it at any CVS, Walgreens, or Wal-Mart. Be sure to bandage it up too. You will need to wash and use Neosporin. Good luck and if you haven't get the shot I would really suggest to go to the doctor and get one or if you can't afford it go to the local clinic. It shouldn't cost a thing or just a couple of dollars. GOOD LUCK!!

have you had a tetanus shot lately? if not you might want to go to urgent care to get one... getting a puncture wound from any metal object could lead to serious medical problems or death. not likely but ya never know. but If you have had a tetanus shot within like the past 5 years I would still clean it with hydrogen peroxide or alcohol. just to make sure it doesnt get infected. regular soap and water wont get the bacteria out of wounds as well

An antiseptic would help, such as Dettol. Or even alcohol. Pour it over the wound, then wash it with soap, and wear socks for a day.

Yes, but honey if that was a rusty nail you need to go straight to get a tetanus shot (if you haven't had one in the last 5 years) - If you don't you can get disease - If it was not rusty then pour peroxide on it to be safe and cover it.

Good old Ivory soap and hot water. Then soak it in hot salt water to kill more germs.
If you do use peroxide, only do it once.
tetanus could be in order as mentioned
