get an italian chianti or table wine....red -- santa cristina antinori is an italian sangiovese merlot blend for about $10 & is ok. try to uncork the reds at least 15 minutes before pouring.
if you are looking for good italian wines like the super tuscans... look to see if they are DOC which indicates they are authentic from the region or classico .....

Hmm ... it all depends on what you put into your ziti.
Is it a lighter vegetable ziti? Use a white wine like a Riesling or Pinot Grigio.
Is there chicken in your dish? A dry white (full-bodied Chardonnay) or a light red (Pinot Noir).
Decided on meat? Go all-out. Use Syrah, Zinfandel, Merlot, or Cabernet Sauvignon.

depends on the pasta really. if you are having say fettucini alfreado a nice chardonnay would be OK. however, if you are doing a hearty red sauce or meat sauce with the ziti, I would probably do sangiovese, chianti or a nice red zinfandel. for the price Ravenswood Zinfandel is nice.

Chianti or Cabernet Sauvignon. Merlot is sometimes drunk too. Barbera, Sangiovese, Zinfandel can also serve, especially with a robust sauce and if lots of cheese is in the dish.

If its seafood pasta, then you will want a white wine...
If its chicken or any hearty meat than you will want a red wine such as chianti.
