Why do dentists say "you may feel a little discomfort" when what they really mean is "You are about to scream like a stuck pig."

The same reason they tell you they are going use local anesthtic instead of telling you your gonna get a shot.... its to make you less nervous

Dentists are not supposed to use the word pain. That is why they call it discomfort.
Another word they are not to use is shot.
It is to be called anaesthesia.
