I'm 16 and I've always had really long, thick hair. But ever since I started dieting, my hair has thinned out quite a bit. I never noticed it, but according to my mom, it's very obvious. My doctor said it is getting a little coarse (due to a lack of vitamins, she says). But my real question is, do you think I can bleach it and not damage it severely? I really want to bleach it, but my mom is afraid that that may cause it to fall out. Are her fears justified? Or can I go ahead with the bleaching?

I wouldn't until your hair is in better condition. Pre-natal vitamins will thicken your hair, if it is thinning. My sister in law's hair was thinning due to an illness. Her doctor told her to take them, and it made her hair really nice again.

Just do streaks for now and then leave your hair for a month or two. You can play around with the bleached out streaks. It would be better to have a professional do it.
