It's really a long story why i am leaving this so late.
But on friday i was asked to audition in one weeks time, got some books from the libary which all turned out to be utter tripe!!!!!
I have three days left and need a monologue (2-3mins) for a female around 25 - 35, preferably british.
I'm really out of touch with this kind of thing and massively need help.
Have already trawled through the internet.
Many thanks for any help

you could try looking in some plays like miss julie by strinberg... quite heavy stuff but sooo good... theres a part when she talks about her dead bird (wierd I know but again its a good play) or about moving to switzerland. you can also try a doll's house and hedda gabler both by Ibsen. you have to cut some of the other characters lines obviously but you can get around that i'm sure! you can also try looking at the importance of being ernest by Oscar Wilde. He wrote lots of brittish comedies. all these writers are from the 19th century so are all period pieces... so costume would play a big part in your body language (restrictive corsets and so on) but I'm sure you know that already! hope I've helped with all this prattle and feel free to email me if you need any more help but thats all I could think of right now... but really check out Wilde he's a good one! Good luck!

I went to see The Vagina Monologues and think that this may be appropriate for what you are looking for.

Perhaps if you contact them, they will send one of the monologues to you - http://www.vaginamonologues.co.uk

Just been on amazon.co.uk and they have the book which is in preview format - http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/reader/1860499260/ref=sib_dp_pt/202-8503967-4027858#reader-page

l would go for some of Victoria Wood's material - funny, but her observation of women is very astute.
