There are so many stereotypes about people in the military that I hate. At the top of my list though has got to be that everyone in the military, and all military spouses, cheat. Also that people who join the military lack intelligence. These are both very untrue, irritating to hear!
Most of the stereotypes are things that are only as true as they are to society as a whole. I guess what you can say about some civilians, you can say about some military personnel, but to stereotype them is just stupid.
My husband is in the military, and neither of us would EVER be unfaithful. I also happen to think that my husband is very intelligent.

that all people in the military hate gay people.
that all sailors are gay.
that all military personnel are baby killers.
many people I know tell me, that the reason I joined the military was to get out of going to college..and that I had nothing better to do in my life.
all of the above that I just stated is NOT true..and people need to stop stereotyping so damn much.

When they are called baby killers. It's been ongoing for ever too. People who come out with that expression forget that people in the military are protecting them, their freedom and their country. I think it's a shame to have anyone that is or has been in the service to be called that.
My sons have been called that too. And when they told me about it, I felt so bad for them.

That every member of the military and the National Guard is an amoral baby killer because they are going over to fight in Iraq. I met one young woman who is in the National Guard and she was told that she was going to Hell because she was being ordered to Iraq.
