We are planning to move out of the city, b/c we are pregnant, and want to buy a house in New Jersey. What areas/cities would you recommend and why?
We need to have quick access to the city, since both of us work there. So Train, Ferry proximity is very important.
Thanks.

IF you need to be close to NY & trains, Chatham, Summit & Madison are fine, with good schools. Central Jersey is nicer (Princeton, etc.), more open space, but further commute.

Good Luck. Avoid Bergen & Hudson counties altogether. Hihg taxes & high crime & mediocre schools mostly.

For a short commute to the city, consider Montclair/Upper Montclair. Nice older homes, great school system, restaurants, shopping and entertainment. Liberal and culturally diverse.

Hunterdon County. Great school systems, friendly people and enough free land left to still retain its beauty. Also, parts of it are a bit less expensive than the rest of NJ.

Oh, I apologize... It is not very close to the city...
