Back then there were 2 US Army Corps equipped with tactical nukes. Brits, French and Canadians were there as well as a skilled German Army.
Since we were facing The Soviet Union not the East Germans or the Czech Army it's pointless.
SSG US Army 73-82
Edit: Not sure what your rant about no east German Army is about. They had a small army. The Soviets were the dominate force. We supported 11th ACR helicopters and had regular contact with the Aviation Bn. I knew a guy up in Fulda in that group. Most of the guards were Soviets in East German uniform according to the Army. There was occasional contact in the woods where there was no fence. They were Soviets not East Germans. There was an incident where a AH1Q Cobra flew into East Germany in 1975. The pilot and gunner were held by and questioned by Soviets. As the incident was caused by an ADF being 180 degrees out of phase my shop was overrun by CID, CIA, a Congressman, Senate aids. We were all under suspicion. There was a story told about 2 patrols gone missing by the SSG that conducted the tour of the border. Supposedly both sides were missing patrols one morning. The story went that the GI's had hash with them and the Soviets had vodka, they smoked, drank and were found passed out by rescue patrols. Have no idea if it's true. The Soviet Union had 9 or 10 Divisions spread across E. Germany and in Czechoslovakia. THEY were the threat!

Most likely West Germany since East Germany was a mess, which could barely sustain itself.

you mean to say 'had they fought each other...'
The two Germanies were reunited as a result of the collapse of the Soviet Union.
It never would have happened with NATO forces stationed in West Germany and the Soviet controlled Warsaw Pact forces in East Germany.

Russia would win since they wanted that territory. Once East and West were done fighting, Russia would go in and finish them off

East Germany was never by its self it was occupied by Russian Forces, just the same as West Germany was occupied the Americans and the British Army on the Rhine (BAOR).
So this question is totally pointless.

Depends on who decided to step in, and when. Towards the end, the Russian military complex probably would not have won had both the US and Russias gotten involved. Closer to the 1950's and its anybody's guess how it might have turned out.
By themselves? They would have been throwing rocks at each other since neither had a military following WW2.
