You're definitely asking the right question, most people don't even bother to think about their tongue's condition. This white coating can actually cause bad breath. The anaerobic bacteria lives between the fibers that make up your tongue.
What I've used to solve this problem is to scrape my tongue with a tongue scraper with Therabreath tooth gel. Therabreath actually removes this wide coating and oxidizes your mouth too for fresher breath. The key to cleaning your tongue is consistency. Don't forget to do this every time you brush. It's as important as cleaning your teeth.
Hope this helps! Good luck!

It may be plaque, in which case, a good scrubbing with a moistened toothbrush should do the trick. There are some medical conditions and medicatons that can cause a coated tongue. If brushing doesn't resolve the problem, Let a dentist check it out for you. Good luck!

Hi sorry to hear about this, first of all i would buy a tongue scrapper. Do this a couple of times a day, if this does not help, then go and make an appointment to see your doctor.
Good Luck.

Try bicarbonate of soda to brush your tongue only don't use the same brush that you clean your teeth with unless it's the kind with a tongue scrub on one side.

Get a tougne cleaner from the store. If this doesnt work go see your dentist. Listerine will also help out twice a day. sounds like bacteria caused from bad breath.

This could be one of many things, depending on what it is, the treatment is different.
Dehydration.....drink more water
Starvation.....eat a little protein etc
Candidal infection ie thrush...doctors
Dead cells....this is normal, could use a tongue scraper to clean them off
I would go to the doctors to be sure if its persistant.

I have the same problem. I tried scrubbing my tongue with my toothbrush and that helps some of the stuff get off my tongue, but it doesn't help all of it get off, I have to warn you.

Use listerine a few times a day and brush your teeth. If that doesn't work, go to your dentist.
