In the U.S., unless you are a Native American, all of your ancestors came to this country from somewhere else. My Great-grandparents came over from Norway and Germany and it took them many years to learn English- I'm sure glad no one "threw them in jail and lost the key". I don't understand why we should be so hateful to people who are just trying to better their lives.
I think they should be given the chance to earn the right to stay and become citizens and once they have done that- then they can get benefits. A lot of times they take jobs that no one else wants, like scrubbing toilets, and are often very hard workers.

Well I don't think anything about illegal people I don't know.

I don't think that illegal immigration is a good thing but that does not mean that illegals are bad people.

Do they deserve a legal status is not an either or thing. I don't think that total amnesty is right. And I think that total deportation will be cruel and evil and it will not work. Reading history shows it has happened and I don't think it will be different if the US trys it again.

No I don't think they deserve any legal status .They are coming over here and getting jobs for a hell of a lot less pay on the hour than we the Americans are getting it for. So there for the Americans hires these aliens to come work so they can save themselves more money and on the other hand we the Americans are going hungry and some people have to sleep on the streets. I can't help what there country is like and hows there jobs work or pay but don't come here taking ours.

I think they should be charged with the same type of penalty as any citizen would get if they were evading the IRS, or using false information to obtain employment. Why doesn't anyone that is a legal or natural born citizen just work under the table and not pay taxes? Why doesn't anyone have the right to put false information on job applications? Why does everyone here have to have a state ID to do anything?

BECAUSE IT IS THE LAW, that's why.

If a citizen were to do the things that illegals are getting away with, that's jail time.

You can't use the excuse of being poor to commit any crime.

Some of them do deserve a legal status. Some of them actually tried to do it the legal way and ended up not being given their citizenship due to some type of error (usually human error). I believe they do deserve it. But my belief in them deserving it does not change the law. Not only that, there are MANY illegal aliens who definitely do not deserve a legal status. How do we distinguish between those who deserve and those who do not?

Generally speaking, I think they are decent people. There's a few bad apples though. And as the number of illegal aliens increases, the number of bad apples also increases. Even though I like them and want the best for them, I believe it is the right thing to do to regulate our borders and only grant citizenship on an as needed basis.

I think the USA was founded on Illegal people! I think they can go through th eprocess of becoming legal and that would be great. You'd be amazed at how many are here working legit jobs with bought socials and are paying into the social security funds but will never be here or be abl eto collect it. I think they provide us all the ability to buy our produce and such at inexpensive prices! A lot work for just at or even under minimum wages, they never gripe, they work hard.

i had lived it,but when you came from outside, you see the lacking of information about all the political movements that the usa made in the latino countries,by the general the usa citizens only see the usa point of view(local),but you do not receive information from the usa in our countries, check only one of all the counries in relation to the usa,go to ticotimes.com and search free trade agreement or tlc,the usa economic depends 100% of the latino countries, between the 60's and 70's,the usa gave some "loans",today our countries pay those loans, reason of not money for social programms, and until now,we do not know where is the money of such"loans",today they are trying to do the same with the trade agreements, but there is a new generation and this one is working with iran, russia,n. korea etc...we agreed about homeland security, but not like you are dealing with our people(like bullies),why not try to catch the real terrorists, will you dare?why not to attack iran, will the usa dare?,by the way iran is in the area working with latino countries, did you know that?,there is a lot of information that you had never received and you will never receive.make your research.

I think they are reprehensible, selfish and self-centered. I do NOT believe they deserve legal status. What have they done to warrant or deserve it ahead of those who apply legally?

Immigrants are the ones who come to America wanting to work, wanting the American dream. They're the ones who take the crappiest jobs at the lowest pay. But they're grateful for that and don't complain. They're not here asking for a hand out, only a chance to live a better life. I've seen too many lazy Americans born citizens who are breeding generations of welfare children, thinking that all they have to do is breed more children and they'll get a bigger check on the 1st and 15th.

I'm an American born citizen.

How many American born citizens would work in irrigation fields in 100+ degree weather for 8 hours at minimum wage?
