good idea. but forget the flyers. word of mouth is much
better. there might be a problem of litter and that way
no one can get offended. make sure the group is
respectful and watch noise levels. i think your very
caring. hope this works out for you.

You need to give more info. What age group, when and where, how would you want to distribute the fliers, etc...
Little kids-not during school time, with parental permission, you *may* be able to use school grounds, and you could not give fliers to the school to send home with the kids. You could stand outside possibly and give them to parents though.
High School-similar as above, but probably easier to get organized as the student would make the decision to join rather than the parent.

Yes, you can pass out fliers.. We did it at our school. We even announced that there was Bible study going on too... But I lived in Idaho.. But it should be the same there too. You can ask a teacher to let you have a Bible study in their classroom and see. They just can't be too involved in it though. You, as a student, have to be there to lead and stuff. Ask one of your pastors or something because they might know

Adults passing out fliers on school property for Bible study off campus is probably not allowed. It would be difficult to allow your church to do so without allowing the KKK or the Nazi party to do so.
Taking an ad out in the School Newspaper would be allowed, since you're simply advertising alongside other groups.
Your own youth may be able to talk it up in school (and perhaps hand out fliers), but the staff cannot, and they cannot allow other adults on campus.
If you want to teach the Bible study group IN the school, particularly during school hours, be prepared for a law suit.

Very touchy....
Secular teaching of religion is allowed (in many places). It also depends on the age group you are dealing with. Is this High school?
Truthfully, until it has been done, the precedent isn't set. If there is nothing explicitly saying you can't, then you shouldn't get into any sort of trouble. However, you might open a can of worms you don't want to open.

In public schools there is no Teacher-led prayer. There is also no official endorsement of anyone's particular religion. This is for the best, of course. Neutrality accomodates everyone and harms no one.
Can kids pray in school? Yes.
I am ammending my reply to say that I am in favor of your group. I am not an atheist, but likewise I am not bible fan, but as long as you're not using public funds to underwrite your efforts, I'm fine with it.

I don't think they can restrict you if you form some sort of club... I mean my school has a Christian fellowship and they meet and pray and such. Plus my school didn't do anything to stop the Gideons from passing out these pocket-sized new testaments afterschool (though come to think of it they were off-campus...) so I think you're safe.

Teacher led prayer is not allowed.
You can call friends and ask if they are interested. You can talk with them outside of class.
I doubt you could pass out fliers.

Religion is not to be taught in a bias manner in the classroom. Fliers and clubs, however, are allowed.

Under the equal access clause, you have the same rights to distribute flyers and hold meetings as any other campus club; as long as it is done during non-instructional time.
You can go to any of these websites for more info:
