when you get dogs neutered/spayed they usually stop humping everything. Also at 11 weeks, he probably doesn't know what "no" means yet, so you have to attach an action like spraying him with a little water from a spray bottle or shaking a can of pennies. It's pretty much normal for puppies to hump anything they can. My dogs who are also jack russels used to hump each others heads sometimes, it was weird. they're older now and they never do that anymore.

When your pup does this he is showing dominance. I highly recommend the family watch a few episodes of the "Dog Whisperer". Everyone in the house should learn the proper method of subduing the family pet. JRT's are extremely tenacious and it is a family affair. I also recommend obedience training for this breed in particular. You will find over time the only difference in the JRT and APB is about 65lbs. They are every bit as strong willed and require constant supervision.
Be kind to your JRT and have him neutered at the 1st availability. An intact JRT is almost uncontainable if there is a female in the area. We had one that went 30 miles to socialize with an Airedale female he got a scent on. Fortunately we live in a very tight knit community and so we got him back without incidence.
I love this breed and currently have 2. I set aside one full day to outside excursions for them every weekend. Yesterday we covered miles of beach and forest trails. This is the only way I know to keep them calm during the week. They also hunt for vermin about 2 hours every night after work. Remember this is a working dog 1st; with regular exercise he will be a great family pet.
Congrats on your new family member!

This puppy needs appropriate socialization with other puppies. The kids are probably not sending him the correct signals that other puppies would send. If you find puppy socialization classes, the instructors will also help you teach the kids how to respond to this behavior appropriately so the puppy understands. Walking away from the puppy when he does this helps. He shouldn't receive any attention for this behavior - including saying "no". Good luck>

My Female rat terrier did the same thing at that age. It wasn't because she was in heat she was showing that she was the dominant person in the household. She didn't do it to people though just my cat. As soon as the puppy learns that he is not the leader of the pack he should stop. Also getting him fixed may help but it is too early for that!

He does not need neutering, he just needs training. Most young pups will this (including females), they do it to their litter mates too, it is nothing to do with sex, just trying to prove they are top dog. Keep saying no to him and distract him by offering a toy or a treat. Neutering is no substitute for training. If this is your first dog, take him to a good training class where he can learn some manners!

jacks are known for that. even if you having them fixed they still hump every thing. theres really not a lot you can do. its just a trait of the breed. jacks, bostons, most of your terriers do this. as he get older he will do it less.

do not have him fixed yet.
use the old way with the rolled up newspaper on his behind and at the same time tell him NO BAD DOG.
this will work but you will need to do it many times until he understands the meaning of NO.
good luck and have Patience with him.

have him castrated. Do it sooner rather than later otherwise your puppy will get into the habit of humping and even with his bits removed will continue to attempt it!

He does need to be neutered but I am pretty sure 6 months old is the norm... guess you will have to deal with it!
