they are trapping these men and sending them to jail! it is not right, i mean if the guy was not really talking to a child then why are they going to jail. It is just role playing. These men ae not monsters if anythign the "kids" should be the ones in trouble for entrapment

what i am trying to say is that these men are lured online. These people find them in the chat rooms and lure them in. Some guys try to stay away the the "child" keeps chating with them and THAT is wrong! The "child" invites the guy over, maybe he just wanted to protect the child like some guys said. maybe they felt bad that the kids was alone, not every guy is looking for sex. The "child" is to. a 12 year old is not dumb they can give consent. sure the guy does not HAve to come over but they have arrested some guys at their home just because they talked to the kid which is sick Leave these men alone and keep your kids offline

No, Dateline is not out of line. These people actually think that they are talking with a child, they are NOT and I stress NOT roll playing. and yes they are monsters. The ones that get in trouble are the ones who actually show up at the "child's" house. and Why do you think the kids should be the ones in trouble for entrapment? I guess you think that it is alright to talk with a child (that does not have the right of consent) or the maturity to even have that kind of conversation with someone, and these people even promise these kids things that they know the kids would love IE I pods, I phone, game boxes and other stuff. These people are predators. By the way I can tell you from experince that these men do not need the child to address them, the men actually come on the them even though the child tells them they are only 12 or whatever age. These men also go into chat rooms meant for kids pretending to be a child until they find someone who will chat with them, but I really think you already know that. My expreince being that even If I go to a Christian chat room, or a partenting chat room that I get solicated. Now as far as me keeping my child offline, what makes you think that these perverts have more rights than my child? She goes online to play games(disney channel, webkinz) and to instant message relatives, and I am always in the room, she even researchs stuff that interest her(like fossils) so I shouldn't have to tell my child that she can't because some sicko can't control himself, that is whats wrong with our system these people say it is a sickness and so they are not responsible for their actions , but you want to hold a child responsible for the adults actions. I applaud what dateline is doing to help me keep my child safe.

These men are not being lured on line and it certainly is not role playing! They are on line because they WANT to be and they're specifically looking for these innocent, underage would-be victims. Had they NOT mistakenly gone for the undercover Dateline people, they would most definitely be taking advantage of some poor helpless minor. The deserve everything they get after being busted by Chris Hansen and the Dateline crew, and then some! They are monsters and deserve to be punished! Its not entrapment if they willingly put themselves in that situation. As soon as they realize their *** is in a jam, they start making excuses. Why? Because they KNOW what they did is SICK and WRONG.
P.S... I'm having a really difficult time believing that all these men who show up at the 'child's' house with condoms, alcohol, and duct tape really just want to protect them. Get real!

I haven't seen it. I think I must live in the wrong country, but from what I can make out from the previous posts:
I don't know if they should end up in jail or a mental hospital, there must be something wrong with anyone who has a 'romantic' interest in a child.
Whatever, they should be taken off the street, for life, whether to asylum, the gallows or jail is not my concern.
A child is just too precious to take the risk and the fewer perverts there are on the streets, the fewer kids will be shagged.
I have no problem with it whatsoever.

If the men knew they were talking to an adult who was pretending to be a child then it would be creepy but not illegal. But since these guys think they are going there to meet a child for conjugal relations, it is a crime. Different cultures have different standards of what constitues adulthood, but paedophiles who prey on children are pretty sick. I think it is good that these guys are getting arrested. Maybe the next guy will think twice about trying to pick up a 12 year old online if it could be a trap.

Yes it is a decoy and yes technicall it is entrapment. BUT... Kids get online nowadays, there is no way around it. They have to get online to do schoolwork, research projects, etc.. They probably have an IM to talk to their friends while they are doing homework and such. So it is the age we live in. Let me ask you this... How would you feel if your 14 year old daughter (hypothetically) was online on her IM talking to her friends about a research project they are working on or whatever and a freking pedophile tries to contact her and solicit her for sex? You'd want to kill that person, yeah? These people are SCUMBAGS and if you believe any of that crap 'oh I just wanted to protect her' or 'I was just coming over to get to know her' or 'I just wanted to be her friend' (When these peoples cars are filled with condoms, lingerie, alcohol, etc...) (and most of these people have a prior) The you, my friend, are a moron. This show is awesome. It gets pedophiles off the streets, at least for a little while. If if were up to me, they would all be shot and killed. How sick do you have to be to molest a child. Ugh.
Edit
While you're a 12 year old and online? Hmm, are you one of those girls that talk to these sick people?

If the dateline people weren't there, more than likely another child would be ASSAULTED. The Dateline program serves two purposes:
1) Warns the potential predator behavior like that is unacceptable and illegal and will be caught and brought to justice.
2) Warns parents to monitor on-line activity of their minor children.
The laws are made so that a person that would have done the crime is safely behind bars where they belong.
Its a good thing here in America we don't have a justice system that would CASTRATE or EXECUTE these perverts. I think that would be a much better deterrent that Chris Whatshisname

I think that when the men try to stop talking on line and the "child" trys to keep them talking, it is wrong. Thats like going around offering alcohol to underage kids and if they accept it arresting them. I think luering them in is wrong, but if they set up a profile of a clearly marked 12 or 13 year old kid and they tried talking to them that requires nessesary action. Some of those men said sick things that could effect a younger child and they need to be locked up.

They are trying to protect our children. I mean, if they were not "lured" into talking with an impostor, then these sickos would actually be talking to a real child and that's where the danger comes into play.
If the idiots fell for a fake person, that shows they would definitely go over to a real child's house too and harm them or have the intention of sexually abusing them. It's just sick, these men. All of them!
What is this world coming to where people can't control themselves?!

Definitely not. They are getting the sick ***** out there off the street. These men should not be on line looking for little girls and boys to molest. The men can't help saying what they say to the "child" ? Are you serious? Have you watched the show? Did you not see how detailed the men were with what they were planning to do with the child? That is not an accident my friend. Everyone has control over what they say, and the fact that they show up at the house proves that they are molesters. Get your head out of your ***. Stop sticking up for these men. Are you one of them?

No I do not think they are out of line. Most all these men have even seen the show before and still chose to come. It is a sickness that these men have, they can not help it they are drawn to these types of activities. These men need to be rehabilitated and get some counseling other wise they will continue to have these perversions time and time again. Help the kids they say? That is bull, most these guys have brought with them computer cameras for the kids, condoms, lubricants etc. you obviously have not watched this show enough to have made your statement.
