My mom won't budge on me having only a beach ceremony. Is it possible to do both in one day or is that just strange?

My son tried to get married on the beach. But there was a hurricane.

Only if both the church and the beach are close together. Why not compromise by having your ceremony on the lawn of a church? That way, you're outside but at the church! Your mom is probably thinking about the reception after the ceremony, something that would be easier to set up inside a church rather than out on a beach. You've got to consider your guests; how old they are, what sort of facilities are available at both possible locations .... stuff like that. Most people would not like to try walking in sand wearing dress shoes! Do you really expect your guests to show up at a beach wedding wearing swimsuits and flipflops??

A nephew of mine had a simple church wedding at a small church in Boracay, then had the reception at the beach. At the wedding reception you can make up other ceremonies such as the candle lighting ceremony, the cake cutting ceremony, etc.

Many people have out door ceremonies, It seems doubtful to me your guests would appricate seeing you married twice on the same day! As well seems a pressure to you two as well.
For that matter would a minister marry you twice on the same day? Seems to me you as a couple and your mom will have to come to some agreement for all your sakes! I may be wrong but I think the choice should be the couples, That you choose to get married would be the plus to me, as many don't marry these days! Blessings and good luck!

yes and yes. friends got married at their local (small) church.
my byfrnd was married to his 1st and now ex wife on the beach in hawaii.

go ahead and do both. it's your day live it up and do it how ever you all want to do!!!!
maybe if you tell your mom she has to pay if you do a church wedding bcse you want the beach she will give in and let you beach it up

is she paying for the church wedding?

you might want to have it in the church for her with your family and her friends so she can have her mother fix.

then with your friends and close relatives, maybe everyone your age (not alot of older people care for the beach) you can have your wedding.

personal note:

I had one church wedding but two receptions.

one at my inlaws with their family (huge) (no drinking)
and one at my sisters with my family and friends. (lotsabooze)
