I heard illegitimate children are children born from unmarried parents.
I'm 15 and my parent's were married when i was born, but when i was 8 they got divorced.
So i was wondering if I'm considered an 'illegitimate' child?

That term is very outdated. You are a legitimate human-being no matter what anyone says about you. The fact is that since your parents were married when you were born that means that you are a product of a legitimate marriage and you therefore are NOT illegitimate!
I have not heard that term is a very long time and I think it should be taken out of the dictionary. Until then here is the actual defenition :I have not heard that term is a very long time and I think it should be taken out of the dictionary. Until then here is the actual defenition :
Illegitimacy

The condition before the law, or the social status, of a child whose parents were not married to each other at the time of his or her birth.

The term nonmarital child is also used interchangeably with illegitimate child.

English common law placed harsh penalties on an illegitimate child, denying the child inheritance and property rights. Modern law has given the nonmarital child more rights but still differentiates between the marital and nonmarital status. In addition, a rising level of out-of-wedlock births in the United States has engaged the attention of politicians and policy makers.

Current Trends

The rate of illegitimate births in the United States has risen sharply since the early 1970s. In the 1940s fewer than five percent of the total births were out of wedlock. By the 1990s, according to statistics compiled by the Center for Health Statistics at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, births to unmarried mothers accounted for nearly one-third of all U.S. births.

A child that's mom and dad are not officially married.... the old word was bastard and now they say illegitimate. I don't know if there is still discrimination for legal reasons like there used to be though. NO CHILD IS ILLEGITIMATE IN THE EYES OF THE CREATOR

No, Illegitimate is out of wedlock. You were not because they were married when you were born.

How terrible that sounds. I hope everyone that is planning to have a child how terrible the word illegitimate sounds.

No- as long as they were married when you were born, you're legitimate. Not like it really matters anyway. Some closed-minded, judgmental people are still of the mindset that if a child is born out of wedlock, that is somehow sinful. It's sort of an absurd concept in the year 2007, but to answer your question and set your mind at ease, you are legitimate.

Of course not;-} your parents were married as you said.
Legitimacy is a legal term, concerning who are heirs.
It meant that their father was already married to someone.
The term is meaningless today, since fatherhood can be proved.
