Interesting to me why individuals validate what they believe in, especially if they don't believe in God.

What determines what you believe in is the source of the information that you choose to believe. When it's a source you consider trustworthy, you will tend to believe information that comes from that source.

Why do people consider some sources more believable than others? Sometimes because people they trust recommend them. Other times it's through trial and error: If you have found that information from certain sources has been wrong in the past, you will be more skeptical of that source in the future.

I have heard a lot of misinformation in news that comes from the mass media, information that was either outright false, or that was presented in a slanted fashion. Therefore I will not make major life decisions based on information I have only heard through the mass media.

On the other hand, my mother has steered me right so many times, and steered me wrong so seldom, that I will often follow her advice, or believe what she tells me, based on her word alone.

Religious belief is similar. If you have tested the information given you by religious people, and found it to be as they said it would be (such as trying prayer), it causes you to be open to whatever else they might have to tell you. If you continue to pursue a particular religion and later find that it teaches things that are obviously false, you might abandon it and move on to something else. But if every way you turn you find goodness and truth, you will be encouraged to continue. (Leaving aside the question of whether God intervenes in order to enable you to believe.)

Do i believe that a psychic determines ones certainty? under no circumstances. in case you're concerning readings, a stable/large psychic will help you instruction manual you to the course this is the main appropriate for you. a stable psychic will inform you what is going directly to a definite quantity yet won't show each little thing, extra so through their very own barriers be it by using their very own precognitive understanding or their very own guardians. if you're going to a psychic for particular issues then they might in basic terms supply you a vast analyzing, how that comes out is actual as much as you and your guy or woman activities.

I am incapable of being anything other than an agnostic or atheist. The potential for blind faith just isn't there, I am far too logical and fact-oriented.

I never chose my beliefs (I am an atheist with nihilist leanings), I just believe in them in the exact same way I believe in the color green, or the absence of a teapot caught in the moon's orbit.

What determines what I believe is evidence. If there is evidence for the existance of something I will tend to believe it. If there is no evidence for it then I don't believe it. For example, many people have claimed that Unicorns exist. However, to date there has not been provided any evidence for their existance. The same applies to mermaids, dragons, and god.
