If your last name is Smith, and you met somebody whose last name was also Smith, would you date and marry him/her?

Well, it wouldn't even matter if he was related to me or not, just the fact that we share similar surnames would set my folks and friends' tongues wagging and the teasing would never stop.

A old friend of mine just got married recently to a man with the same surname, and when the guests at the church realized this, there was a lot of whispering and murmuring.

Some people need to just leave others alone and let them marry who they want to (non-related, or course) regardless of the name.

Getting Married comes with a lot of choices but someone having the same last name as long as they weren't some long lost relative wouldn't be an issue to me. When making the choice to walk down that aisle there are more important things that should be on your mind. Not having to change your name would be a plus in my eyes though.

I'd say sure, but I'm a guy. My wife probably would have liked doing that as well, because for the next year after we married she had to deal with changing her name on all sorts of documents, cards, etc.

Another alternative would be for both people to change their surnames to something new to each. That could be fun, like picking out a baby name, but without the pregnancy and messy diapers. :)

Well my last name is Romero, and that name isn't exactly the most common last name, especially if I meet a girl with that last name in the same city I live in. Chances would be likely that we're related somehow. So my answer, no.

Yes, why not? Didn't Adam and Eve's children marry each other? I'm sure they had the same surname.

I mean, who else was there on earth for them to wed, huh? But in reality, in this present day, it wouldn't be wise to marry a family member.........they say married couples who are related produce offspring with disabilities.

If you would let that get in the way of marriage, then you shouldn't be getting married, especially if you share that name because you are related.

Sure, gives you a reason not to mess with name changes and allows you to keep your original last name!

Sure, a friend of my did that exact same thing. No relation of course... but we all had fun with it. We all called her Robin Young-Young. And really as long as you love someone, does it really matter.
