Does anyone know of any other online paper companies besides Paper Source and Kate's Paperie? I am trying to find 8 1/2 x 11 heavy card stock that is scored longways for a menu card and am not having much luck. Any ideas for another paper company?

Also, has anyone ever printed on black paper with white ink with a home printer? Did it work and how well?

OK, so it looks like DIY white on black is not a good idea. So I have a third question.

Say I get a black cardstock and on the inside place white vellum, would you be able to see the black ink on the vellum against the black background? Also, is it possible to print on vellum on a home printer?

You can buy the cardstock at the office store and buy a paper cutter/scorer at the craft store for around $5-8 and do them yourself. You'd find the paper scorer in the scrapbooking section.

Have the menus printed up then score them yourself and fold. I did this for a friends ceremony programs it save a lot of money.

You may not see a big contrast with black ink on white vellum, but yes you can print on vellum in your home printer. You may want to try it and see, in the scrapbooking section you can buy sheets of paper. If doesn't work try different colors.

Good luck!

First, just go to Officemax. Print two menus on one sheet of the heavy cardstock, and they will cut it in half for you. I did this and it cost about $10 altogether. They can also design it for you, for a small fee.

Second, no you can't do this. There is no white ink for a home printer. When something prints in "white" it is actually printing everything else black and letting the paper show through. You can do this on a home printer, but you better have a lot of fast-drying black ink or you're going to make a mess.

ETA: You can print on vellum from most home printers. Not all, but most of them. Printing the black on vellum MIGHT be visible against black paper. I would buy one sheet of the thickest, least see-through vellum I could find and test it first. Do you have an accent color, by any chance? You could have the black cardstock, then layer on a sheet of colored paper in your accent color, and either print directly on that colored sheet or lay another layer of vellum on top of that. Or, you could print on white cardstock and put that on top of the black.

Have you looked at Crane Paper Company (http://www.crane.com/)? They have some really nice paper stock.

My best friend tried white ink on dark paper, and it ended up looking blotchy...almost like writing with whiteout or something. You may want to get a professional printer for that kind of work, not an average home printer.
