The circulatory system (or cardiovascular system) is an organ system that moves nutrients, gases and wastes to and from cells. Cardio is a type of exercise that helps this system. Aerobics can do the job but cardio is mainly walking, jogging etc.

Cardio can be aerobics, but it is not limited to aerobics. It is any exercise that is geared towards training your cardiovascular system (hence, the name "cardio"). Generally, it is exercise at low to moderate intensity for long periods of time, non-stop (though it is possible to do high intensity cardio, like some cardio blast classes offer), aimed at working at a certain heart rate (often, a percentage of your maximum heartrate, which is 220 minus your age -- in some circles, 226 minus your age for women). Cardio can be spinning (group cycling), swimming, treadmill, jogging, elliptical, some sports, dancing, kickboxing, et cetera.

The term "cardio" does relate to ones heart. However usually when people use the term cardio and it has to do with exercise, it means anything that will strengthen your cardiovascular system. That means any exercise that you can do that will raise your heart rate and keep it up for 20 minutes or more. This will be enough to help you build endurance and strength. If you can't do that much at first then just do what you can until you get more endurance.

Cardio is a workout or physical activity that gets your heart rate above resting rate. Cardio is short for "cardiovascular". Yes, many times people refer to Cardio as stereotypical aerobics but it can be any activity (physical) that gets your heart rate up and your blood flowing.

Cardio is the medical term used to reference the heart. From Greek kardia: heart. The Greek spelling using k is the reason for the usage of K in EKG (electrocardiogram).

Also used in reference to exercises and/or equipment intended for cardiovascular fitness and endurance training (aerobic exercise).

Cardio is short for Cardiovascular and most people use this term to mean Cardiovascular excercise. Its any type of excercise that increases your heart rate and increase blood flow in your body.

Aerobics is a part of it, so is stepping, bicycling, swimming, running, jumping rope, basketball, dancing etc, or any activity that increases blood circulation in your body (aka making you sweat).
