You are being such a jerkofff: the guy was not a "devout christian", he said that he found Jesus, and said it for the very first time after he got busted, and after he received felony charges for it; he is hoping to get his career back, so who knows: maybe from his humiliation he did find Jesus, and thats cool, but you are suggesting that He was always a Christian, and still fought dogs - thats a load of crap.
And look at you - you are soooo zealous about it, rambling on about that you are "not really surprized" because Christianity teaches bigotry, etc etc. You are so full of crap your eyes surely must be brown.
You know what? What that man did, absolutely turned my stomach, being an animal lover, but now you turn my stomach a whole lot more than he ever will.
YOU TURN MY STOMACH. YOU ARE THE BIGOT. YOU ARE THE OBVIOUS "HATER". IF YOU ARE SO MUCH AGAINST GOD, GO AHEAD AND SET YOURSELF UP AS HIS ENEMY AND WATCH YOUR LITTLE BUCKET START TO GET BIG HOLES IN IT.
I can't even go on; you drive me to vomit.

The person who wrote this is obviously very ignorant.
This is the post you're referring to: "Mike Vick did nothing wrong to begin with. There is nothing in the bible that says Dog fighting is wrong. One look at Pit Bulls tells you that God designed them for fighting. How can you criticize Mike Vick for drowning dogs when the bible shows us God drowning them in the flood. Mike Vick has always been a devout Christian and deserves our prayers and support. Vick is simply the victim of an atheist justice system out to prosecute him simply because he is a famous Christian. "
I'm christian, and the fact that God caused a flood and people and animals died doesn't mean its okay to torture animals anymore than it make it okay to drown people. And really, the silly "God designed them for fighting" is the most incredibly ridiculous thing I've ever heard. God did not create dogs to fight, people did that. The bible says the holy spirit descended on Jesus at the time John the Baptist baptised Him, "like the soul of a dove", which tells me that animals do indeed have souls. I'm christian, and this Vicks guy is sick and so is this so-called christian defending him. Anyone who treats animals like this is sick. God told us to be good strewarts, and torturing and killing our charges is not being good stewarts. Vicks is a devout christian is a load of crap. I work in the legal system, and believe me, they all find God when faced with prison, it gets them paroled earlier. They seem to lose that newfound faith as soon as they get released. So basically the person who wrote this is simply a few bricks short of a full load.
By the way, christianity does not preach bigotry. The only people who are told not to intermarry into other religions (not races mind you, but religions), are the 12 tribes of Israel. So if people are not Jewish and descended from those 12 tribes, it doesn't apply.

Just because he CLAIMS to be devout doesn't make him so! The Bible says to "Try the spirits and see whether they be of God". In this case, it means to watch his (Micheal Vick's) life and see if he TRULY is a Christian example to his fellow man. Involvement in such heinous activities CLEARLY disqualifies him as "devout Christian", no matter how much he tithes or goes and sits on the pews. There's more to Christianity that showing up and warming a pew and dropping a little cash in the offering/tithe plate. His (Vick's) actions are unconscionable and should be punished to the extent of the law!

In time it gets extra suited inshallah god keen. do no longer supply up the religion. i stumbled on Allah i stumbled on islam and that i'm happy now even although existence has no longer been elementary its extra undemanding with Allah in my existence.

Since you clearly have already made up your mind as this is not really a question, I won't even try to convince you of anything. However, I would like to answer your open attack on my faith as judging a whole group on the activities of a few is rather unfair.
Throughout history, different religions have participated in any number of acts of cruelty to animals. As far back as ancient Egyptians where cats were buried alive with their owners, animals have played a part in spirituality. I am certainly not likening Michael Vick's behavior to anything spiritual. I am merely clarifying that animals have been treated cruelly by people and religious for the entire history of man.
Now, as to your comparison of dog fighting to what you perceive as bigotry, that is just a stretch on your part to turn one issue into a banner for your own personal issues. As a Christian who has lived in Europe for a long time, I even understand and sympathize with your bitterness. A large number of American Christian groups are way too involved politically and have lost the love in their struggles against the moral decay of America. I can believe that you have been attacked with hateful language at times by people who are well-meaning, but just get it wrong.
Christ taught us to love the sinful and exemplified this by meeting the Samaritan woman at the well and through many other documented acts of his lifetime. Indeed, we are all sinners as God sees homosexuality and abortion the same way He sees taking a quarter from your daddy's wallet. They are equally dark in His eyes.
However, my sympathy for you does not mean I condone your own moral values or agree with your reasoning. It just means I respect you and your right to have opinions.
Christianity in its purest form is about love for God and His creations. Of course Michael Vick has not exemplified this with his behavior. Any fool can see that. If you are trying to use this case as some kind of soapbox painting Christians to all be like that, then you are quite delirious. Such thinking just doesn't hold water.

Any so called person who claims that "animals don't have souls" is a justification for destroying their lives for any purpose other than food turns my stomach.
Here is my answer to C&C- yes I truly think this would be appropriate (you can call me a nutcase if you like)
I believe that any Christian who says animals don't have souls (and behaves as if this is the case- like vick did)- should be treated like animals...
If justice is truly to be served- they should castrate him, remove all of his clothes, keep him in a small cage (and poke at him with sticks and cattle prods to torment him), withhold food from him, force him to fight others his size until dead, then when he is injured so badly that he cannot recover, they should give him a pair of cement shoes and drop him at the bottom of a sewage infested lake (probably lake Michigan- yuk!) to drown.
Have a nice day :)

I will not judge Mr. Vick but I doubt that he is a Christian.
2Corinthians 5:17
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
James 2:26
For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.
If indeed he is Christian where is his works, fighting dogs?
Peace be with you

I didn't see the word 'devout' in the article. Maybe I skimmed too fast, however, to me it seemed as if he has turned his life over to Jesus, which is a good start at a new life. I do not condemn him for his past actions. Hopefully he can find peace and a brighter future, that is far from animal cruelty.

The bible says that animals were put on earth for man's use. they believe that humans are superior to other animals.
But I thought Vick just "found" Jesus in the past few days. I don't think he was (or is) a devout Christian.

I'm a Christian, and have been involved in animal rescue for years. Every animal in my house was rescued from situations involving terrible abuse and/or neglect. I know many Christians who engage in animal rescue and are horrified by animal abuse, regardless of who's doing it. At least one of my animals here was abused by a non-Christian. I don't care who does it, Christian or otherwise, animal abuse is morally wrong. By the way, many of the local Christian churches here have animal blessings, services where animals can be brought, fundraisers for animal shelters, sponsor chapters of animal rights groups, have animal memorial scrapbooks for pets who have passed on, and more, so they're hardly encouraging people to treat their animals poorly.
